Are you ok up there?  I hear that the river is supposed to crest to just over 40 ft. on Saturday.  Just wondering if you're ok.

If you guys didnt know, there is some severe flooding up in the Fargo area.  It is supposed to be worse than the 1997 record flood.  They've also been getting pounded by rain and snow.

Hi Steve,

We are OK for now. The river is now to crest on Saturday at 41+ft. The dikes are now being raised to 43 to have a buffer. There was a news conference this morning about a plan to evacuate the city in case the sand bags don't hold. The river got to 38.5 in 97 so we are way above that this year. We have our stuff packed and ready to go if we have to. I have the T/A all tied down in the trailer and everything is gassed up. Nancy will drive the new one and we will hit the road. The only problem is how to get out. The interstates both north and south are closed due to flooding over the roads. It's also closed going west so I guess we go east. I talked to my brother last night and that is where we will go if we leave.

We need all the prayers we can get for the next 5 days that all the 2&3/4 million sand bags hold.

Hopefully you guys don't need to evacuate the area.  As Jim said, don't hesitate to leave earlier if it's expected to get worse.  I remember driving through the tri-state flooding in '07 on my way back from GA with my Stealth and I must say that was very nervous driving through so much rain.  My dad was having a hard time controlling his car with FWD, but I was perfectly fine with rain tires and AWD.  Keep us posted with what happens. ;)

I have a little update for now. Our daughter and son in law just moved in with us. They were told to get out of the part of town they live in. They are about two miles or so south of us. We are in the middle of town and by the maps if the river gets over 42 feet this part of town looks like it won't flood. by the way flood stage for the river is around 20 feet. The only way out of the city is east on I94 and it's stop and go on the interstate from people trying to leave town. We got close to a foot of snow yesterday and it's been snowing lightly today. I think it's panic time for a lot of folks.

I'll check in again later.

Thanks for the update Ken.  If you feel you need to get out, by all means, do.  No sense in sticking around for a free coast guard ride like I saw on the news some people were getting.   :scared:
