THANKS ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So far we are high and dry at our house. They have evacuated the Hospital and all nursing homes. They also did a large neighborhood in south Fargo close to the river. There has been a large chunk of Moorhead Min. that has been moved out also. They are the sister city on the East side of the Red River. Over night the officials are trying to raise 20 miles of dikes another foot. Right now at 7:00Am the river is at 40 1/2 feet. Yes there are cracks starting to develop in the earthen dikes down south. There are 2k Guard folks now policing the city and helping with the dikes. They have shut many streets off to local traffic so the trucks hauling sand bags can move smoothly. Today is the day that will tell all.......either we make it or we don't.

Looks like you will avoid the high water, I guess now my personal concern would be the effect of the flooding upon your utilities at your home. To not have electric with the weather and temps. you have would be quite harsh. And because of the conditions the utility people probably couldn't get out to make repairs. Still a very dangerious situation for ya.

The weather pattern accross the country yesterday was devasting, Denver was getting 2" of snow per hour, tornadoes accorss the south east, and snow and rain with cooling temps. in the N/NE. Bad situations for many many families.

This pretty much sums it all up. My place I think will be fairly safe even if the dikes give out. We happen to be in one of the highest parts of town. The officials are telling people to come to this area if their area floods. At this point I have all my fingers crossed and all we can do is wait and see what happens.

Ken, how are things progressing out there? I heard that more snow and rain was comming your way from out of the west, even up through Wednesday next week..  :pullinghair: I bet the guys up in Canada north of ya are starting to really worry too, rather strange, up there the Red River flows north. Sure hope you and Nancy are still OK, we were gone yesterday, but Friday evening I thought they said the river was like at 42-43 feet and still rising.

On the brightside, your property is "battle tested". Property values will go up!

Well it was a great weekend for us. The river has gone down and we have had only one break. We lost some of a school campus but the guard dropped 2k sand bags and got it stopped. Nancy and I took Saturdays slowdown to get our cars out of Fargo. We took them to a relatives farm in South Dakota. At least they are safe. All I can say is what a week we had. Out of a city of 90k we had 80k sandbaggers. We have had a LOT of help from other towns and states as well. The river dropped a foot yesterday but now we have a blizzard warning in effect. We are to get 8ins to 2 feet of new snow. It depends on the way the storm tracks. We were told the river that is normally 1 to 2 hundred yards wide is now 9 miles wide south of Fargo. Saturday, when they opened the interstate to one lane, it looked like a road through the ocean. There was water as far as you could see. Everyone is very confident it's on the downturn but the dikes have to hold this pressure for another week. I'll check back again later.

Thanks all for your support!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kenny - glad you and Nancy came out of this OK! My Nancy said hello and are hoping y'all make it to Carlisle this yr. We're really looking forward to see everyone again. First the drought and now this, just can't seem to get on an even keel. BTW - haven't seen any pictures of looters, folks waiting on the roof for the NG or FEMA trailers in Fargo? Wait, that's b/c there aren't any  :bananasmi  :wavingflag:

Thanks Jim.... You are very right . One good thing is that our officials are doers. We didn't wait and just let it go and cry that someone else should be to blame. And when people came to help No One was shot at and there was NO looting going on. The weather may suck up here but you cannot find better people.

enough said.....Thanks!

This is a very good photo spread.

So far we have placed 3.5 million sand bags and have 1/2 mil on reserve. The county has placed another 2 million bags also.
