I hate dealing with carts in the isles, I think the should be kept on the main roads of the show and parked at the end of the swap isles.

WARNING!!!!! WARNING!!!!!! WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a heads up in case any of your members are planning to attend the 2009 MoPar Nationals at Columbus, Oh (east of Columbus on old Rt. 40 at National Trails Raceway).
A lot of fans venture into the city of Heath, Oh. to motels & restaurants & during the evenings they do their traditional "burn-outs" & cruise up & down Rt. 79, (commonly referred to as "the strip") in Heath till late in the night and the local folk throughly enjoy it as they line both sides of the "strip" to watch.
Well, this year there's a surprise waiting. The city has installed 10 Red light & Speed cameras. The speed limit is 35 (you get 2 mph) & at 38 you just bought yourself a $100 tkt. & the same for running a red light. The 1st Mo., June, (a grace period) they recorded 1000 violations, "they say". July 1st they started mailing out citations. I would strongly urge you to warn your club members or any other club to consider staying in Reynoldsburg or Columbus, Oh during the Nationals. "THE FUN IS OVER". It's all about money now.
To find out more: type in , Traffic Cameras Heath, Oh., then click on, OH-Heath begins traffic-camera enforcement. There are no more warnings.

:eek2: That's real good to know. Please share with all of the Mopar forums. We've been cruising Heath for the last couple years cause Reynoldsburg cops just got too stupid. I hope it's not going to be that way at Heath.

By the way, we'll be there...every year at the Mopar Nats since 1987.

Bring your core woodgrain wheels... I'll be buying and selling. Usually arrive Friday afternoon and leave Sunday afternoon.

Adding the cameras will in my opinion force all us Mopar guys to find a different town to cruise in. The crackdown on Brice Rd. a few years back is what gave Heath the opportunity to lure all the Mopar people (and the money they were willing to spend on food, gas, lodging etc.) to Heath for their cruise. Judging by the crowds of Mopar people in Heath the last few years, there must have been a lot of money spent in their local economy on that weekend.
It is too bad that the local officials of Heath are going to ruin what has been a great cruise night.
Where is everyone going to go this year to cruise? We will probably go to Heath to see how things go. We are staying on Brice road (since we couldn't find anywhere in Heath to stay) so we will be able to see if Brice Rd. has more cars than in the last few years.

We plan to go down again on Saturday only, but will probably just be "spectators", $40.00 to walk through the gate as vs. $80.00 to drive your car in for one day   :pullinghair:  Unless the pass rates are higher this year, if so I may just turn around and leave. I'd prefer a weapon used when I get robbed  :roflsmiley:

I don't think so, about every city is adding red light cameras, yes it is an easy way for them to make money.  we were cruising Heath last year and you dont and can't really go more than 20 miles per hour as it is to crowded, heck we were even doing burnouts with motorcycle cops right in front of us, the people would squirt their super soakers on the road and say light them up, we looked and motor cycle cops right in front of us and pointed and the people said he doesn't care, the cop looks back and said no I don't care, the chargwer beside us lit them up and the cop just rode away.  The only cars I seen getting pulled over were non-mopars, the sherrif was even there with his dart.  the nats bring more money to their town than red light cameras ever would.

If you take your car, do passengers get in as part of the car fee or is it all seperate?

$80 for the car enty PLUS 4 passengers (wife and two kids) would kill my budget.  And $20 a head is PRICEY for spectator.

Was hoping to go but would rather spend that kind  money elsewhere...

It is a bit more than not necessary. If you pre register it was $65.00 (last year) for three days and entry for two people each day, not too bad. But for daily entry it is $20.00 a person (I think under 12 is a reduced rate), then they charged us another $40.00 to drive the Chally into the show two years ago.  :banghead: And of course if you want to race or just run your car down the track it cost something like another $100.00  :dunno:

And there just may be a first time attendee this year  :2thumbs:

I was planning to go, but it sounds like the thing is almost a miserable experience.  Is it worth it?  I was at Carlisle and wanted to hit the Nats as well.

The Nats is an experience. It is good because it has the drags right there. There are a ton of cars and parts to look at. The show is not as enjoyable as Carlisle. Carlisle is organized a lot better than the Nats. At the Nats, there are cars parked all over the place. Everything is very spread out. The grounds are usually very dusty. The food and drinks are over priced. Brice road is not as good of a cruising spot as it was 5 or so years ago. The Heath cruise has been awesome the last several years. Hopefully it will be as good as last year.
In my opinion, if I could only go to one major show a year, I would go to Carlisle. I have been going to the Nats, since 1984. I have only missed 3 or 4 years. If I didn't go to the Nats, I would feel like I am missing out on something. :2cents:
