Mopar Cop Wheels, Trim rings or no trim rings?

Getting new tires and going with 15 X 7 Mopar six slot police wheels for mthe 80's. I think they have more style than the older steel wheels ( can't afford the after market wheels, besides its pothole city up here and the local govers can't seem to be able to fill up the holes anymore)

Going with the 18 hole dog dish caps and pick up some SS chrome trim rings but can't decide if I should use them or not, only have a few days to return these, so all opinions welcome. Does it look cheap or cool to run just the dog dish caps and no rings. Don't have good pictures since I just got done painting the wheels, once the trim rings are on, they are staying on.

I'd go without.  Won't they cover up part of the slots?  Here's a pic of my brother-in-law's Charger with the cop wheels.  Looks pretty good.

With black rims I think the trim rings dress it up a little.  There's a pic on the internet somewhere of a Plum Crazy Challenger T/A with steel wheels, dog dishes, and trim rings and it looks very nice.  Can't find it though!!!!

Leaning for the rings...true you would see the slots better without the rings.

  One problem with the rings on the cop wheels, especially with the silver painted wheels, is to the untrained eye they look like rallye wheels, which is fine, but to me the cop wheels are meant for a completely different, low budget look.  Plus, I'm not so sure it looks that great with the black wheels, but it's tough to tell without the center cap on.

I ran them for a while. I originally had the outer trim rings and later picked up the centers. I didn't like the centers so I ended up taking them off. One thing you need to consider is the lug nuts. I had a set of really nice high polish lug nuts that helped with the look. They added a decorative look to the setup with the trim rings.

Yeah making something cheap look expensive is tacky...this is why I'm banging my head....but then I found cop car pictures and a few states-just a few-run the rings, even now on the Ford Vics. They look alright...and its easy to spot...

I think it makes the wheels look like Chevy rallye wheels. Whatever looks best to you, go with that. I think they look good both ways but prefer the look without the rings.

I am going to use black cop wheels with rallye wheel center caps on my T/A with no rings.

I have never really cared for chrome / brightwork myself, so I avoid it whenever possible.

I got it...one side gets rings, the other side doesn't 


That is were I'm about at now, lol.


But the rings are pack neatly in the box to be ship back but waiting till Tuesday before I send them back. Tires go on the rims Monday...I'm loading the tires from Tire Rack in the trunk of my winter car and the rims in the backseat...my car doesn't go in to a repair shop unless it has too, ha ha ha...I need no punk with his dirty clothes in my ride--beside I hate handing over my keys...the muffler shop is cool, I drive it in and can hold the light while they work...but no tire machines there

I like cop wheels, but not black. Here's mine in silver with no rings and I'll make you guess what the centers are. (Magnum GT or Super Coupe centers work, too).
