Did T/A's use special windshield wipers??
« on: March 29, 2009 - 09:15:32 PM »
I ordered a repo t/a hood for my car and the windshield wipers hit the bottom of the hood. Did t/a's use a lower profile windshield wiper?? has any one else had this problem?? i can make them work but i have to adjust the hood up higher then the fenders and then it looks really bad.

they all used a very low profile steel back wiper blade , one of the companies still makes a vintage series of these , I can`t recall if it is tridon , Anco etc

I guess it has been too long but I dont remember the wipers coming anywhere close to hitting my hood. I do have the original stainless steel wipers that you just slide blades into though if that makes a difference.

i have the original set of wipers but they will come about half way up the hood and the arm hits. what i need is an arm that is closer to the windshild and thinner. Also do you have an original or aftermarket hood, I assume that probably makes a little differnece.

They all used the same setup as far as I know.

What are you guys using for blades? (The insert with the actual wiper strip) Pictures?

Here is a factory original, note how low it is to the glass, there is no way it could hit the hood.

Make sure that your wiper arm is seated all the way on the pivot shaft & if the wiper blade is too tall, replace it with one that has a lower profile.

I have seen some arms  that have needed to be flattened out as well.

i will post a few pictures here in a minute   i have to resize them first    i assumed the wipers i got with my car were original   they had overspray on them the same color as my car, they fit the car perfect. either someone changed them out years ago or i just ordered the one hood they wont clear.   wouldnt suprise me with the luck i have been having lately

well the wipers look nothing like the wipers i have, they must have been changed years ago, or did the t/a's only use that wiper
