I don't think selling/trading it is a problem. The problem comes when someone buys it and uses the numbers to re-body another car.

That is one vague ad.
Does he have a car with that dash and VIN, or does he only have the dash with the VIN? If it's the latter, only an idiot would trade him the Vin for a 440 six-pack 4-speed.
