It need a bunch of metal work.  Cool that it's an FC7 car, if you're into that.  No engine/tranny/interior-along with the body work, use that as a bartering tool.  I'm sure there a bunch of other things missing as well.

I say $4k.

I'd say he would be lucky to get 2500 now adays. No drive train, no interior and a rust bucket.  Seems to me that people fantasize on what a car used to be when new and think they got gold when it's all flaked out.

Oh, and rusty engineless cars are not rare.

I dont know buddy.  Rust in the back window and front window usually means it is also eaten its way to wheel tubs and firewall. trunk pan and floor rust to. The expense of fixing it to a restored level is big bucks. With the engine gone  383 and the 4 speed gone, it is just a hull that was purple. Purple cars are ok, I do own one, but the price you'd pay just to have a purple car is a bit extreme.  Now if he could find the block and trans, then it would be worth more. But as it looks to me. It's a hull with a dreamer for a seller if he expects top dollar for a car that used to be a nice car but isnt now. Even if car prices are dropping, labor and materials isnt, and that cost will eat you up. And remember there is no interior, that in itself is quite a few grand to get back right.

Seems to me that any condition rebuilder E-body is almost always priced double of whats its actual worth would be. You can still find Mustangs and camaros/Firebird rebuilders in the 1k price range but hardley ever our E-bodys.  Its nice to know we have all the value but sad when you need a parts car. But I am still guessing the guy will ask around 6k for that body. But I don't think anyone will bite at that price.  I think it was posted on here a few years back a 70 panther pink 440 RT that was t-boned in the right a piller so much so that the LH door wasn't out from the quater a bit and was selling the car for 16k. 16k for a banana ouch.

I spoke with him via email and he said the dash vin tag is missing and its very rusty. He said the photos look much better than it is and he wants to be up front with it. He also said his best offer is 4k from a dealer and seems to be holding out for more. It's also missing the title. The ad makes it seems like the vin tag is there but he's talking about the fender tag.

To sum it up, no dash vin, no title, no motor/trans/interior and more rust than the photos show. He should take that 4k offer and run. I don't think I would even buy it unless it was cheaper than the sum of parts. In this market a better car can be found with a little work. I should mention he seemed very straight forward and honest.

MoparMan:
He emailed me the same as far as the dealer offering 4K and he apparently is hoping for more
He also sent me the fender tag readout........... he didn't inform me as to the title or vin tag concerns.
He is asking too much for what it is as far as I'm concerned........

Here is what he sent me........

If I can remember a fender tag is read starting from the bottom left then right and up. Heres what is stamped- E63 D21 JS23NOE130012       FC7  H6X9 000 310 157215    FC7  A62 C16 C55 J25 J51 M21 M41 N45 N85 N92 R11 V5X Y14 END

So basically a parts car but all the parts are rusty.      He should have taken the 4K
That car is just a headache

You called it Al, total junk.

I asked specifically about the dash tag becuase I've been burned. Here's a cut and paste from my last email:

"The dash pad and its VIN tag are long gone, but it still has the fender tag and the VIN tag on the door near the latch. Ihave never filed for a lost title. So far the best offer has been $4000. from a dealer over in Austin."

yeah,4k for that pile is way too much, also if he claims that he is the last owner,he should be able to get a duplicate title, here in Florida it takes literally minutes and cost is $35  :2cents:
