Been seeing a lot of e bodies forsale here lately
« on: March 31, 2009 - 04:47:10 PM »
Man, it is so sad to see some members giving up their cars. I know times are tough. I have been feeling tight here lately myself. I'm doing ok, but just not able to splurge like I was back in September.

I wish you all the best of luck

I've noticed that too. I've kicked around the thought of selling mine, but I'd have to be REALLY hard up to let her go. That would be an absolute last resort.

Never getting rid of my Chally, NEVER.

It is sad, I feel bad for those who have no choice in the matter.

X2  I wish I had the money to buy something ready to drive. It is definitely the time to buy. there has not been a buyers market like this since the early 90's and I dont even think it was as good then as it is now.

I agree, great time to buy however I think what is keeping more people from buying is what if they lose their source of income and then they can't sell the e-body cause everyone else is scared as well.  The only people that can come out on this market is if they have lots of $ and can afford to buy them and put them away until things get better, then they will come out like bandits.  Everyone else is just trying to keep their jobs or find new ones.

My brother just finished paying for his VIP Fury and now will be selling it. I'd buy it from him, but have nowhere to keep it, nor do I have the bucks for it. I do see a lot of classics for sale, but I also know folks are buying too. My co-worker just bought a new mustang and already has a 2007 Shelby GT Mustang. Another co-worker just got a new Honda Accord and another is closing a deal on a new boat. Things will turn around. just hang tight!! :2thumbs:

I agree, I just bought my 1970 Challenger . Now is definitely the time. I figured it was now or never. As I couldn't have afforded one otherwise! The week after I bought it I got laid off at work. That sucked ,but so far things are OK. It needs a paint job bad but I'll just drive it as is till better days come my way.

I too have noticed the increase of cars for sale. Just a note, if anyone is in really hard times and young enough, i think the army raised their acceptance age to 35 or 40. Just an option for a steady income and a roof over your head. Or the Guard and reserve. Just puttin the plug out there.  :wavingflag:

I just received my layoff notice after 21 years. My last day is May 15th.
If I dont get a job by the fall my car will have to go as well.

Man that's a shame. I know most people figure that sell the car first is the answer. Sometimes you can look at the monthly costs and weed thing way down, sell other things like extra computers, cut off cable, get rid of all the extra phones, turn the breaker off on the hot water heater and use once a day, turn the thermostat up or down, have a garage sale and all the other stuff you can think of.  Once your car is gone, its gone and shock and sadness come into play.   Hope it works out for you

I just lost my job too, may 1st last day...  but when I saw things turning around, about a year ago, I started cutting on expenses. If you wait till you lose you income it`s way too late.
I purchased some parts, had the machinework done on the engine , got most stuff blasted and powdercoated at work, and put some cash aside for paint on the car. This way at least I can keep working on my car for a while.
It took me almost 20 years to get me an e-body and I`m not gonna let it go.... unless I get really hungry...
Good luck to all who are forced to sell...

I have seen that happening on everything, people are hurting.I have been thinking of parting ways with my 71 Cuda,it's the farthest from being done and costs a kings ransom to get parts for it.But for me it's not being put up for sale because of a job loss,I just don't want to sink anymore money in it and it's gonna sit for a long time in storage.Plus if I do put it up for sale, the potential buyer would have to come to my house to view the car and the parts.(way to much to list and describe)plus it will take hours to get everything out of storage.I won't be pushing on a sale of this car but if the right offer comes across the table?I will part ways with it.
To all that are selling there cars to survive,I wish you all the best and keep your heads high, this crappy economy will end eventually.
