under flip top locking gas cap
« on: March 31, 2009 - 08:30:10 PM »
Anybody have a picture of the original locking gas cap that would have been under a flip top cap on a 70 Challenger? I think I have the right one but now I see another one that claims to be the one. No Chysler logo or numbers to go by.

I took my original locking gas cap to the locksmith to make a key which I did not have. I am told that they cannot make a key for it because the cylinder is bad and they don't make them any longer. Does anybody know how to get hold of a cylinder for the cap

N95 cars may have a different cap than the one in the picture, but I am not sure. I'll look it up if I remember.

CP is a locksmith, he may have some experience in fixing these?

Also, for whatever it is worth.....

Every NOS & used one I have tried ( six so far ) can be removed from the filler neck in the locked position without using the key.  :screwy:

If you get a chance to look it up Barry I would appreciate it.
I guess the key to this is you don't need a key.
