My extra original parts
« on: April 01, 2009 - 12:54:57 PM »
I have all of the original parts from my car that I have upgraded or replaced. My car is a 2 owner 1 family (bought from father) car.The question is; Is it better to keep my orignal parts for value to the car or would it not really matter anymore? The parts are the orignal carb, intake, heads, cam, rear center section, axels, radio and some other misc. parts.  Are these parts needed to keep it or have it mean numbers matching?

I would keep them. Think 10 to 20yrs from now when nom cars are really hard to find. I think this resto-mod phase will pass by then and nom will be worth that much more. For cars without the original engine then no big deal throw a hemi in it.Im only missing a few things like carb, fan, fanshroud and hate myself for loosing those things.

If you can spare the space I would definitely save everything that came off it. Its all date coded and correct for your vehicle. Never know when it might come in handy.

My father replaced the radio with another 71 refurb about 15 years ago because it wouldn't get the signal from the tapedeck. Only to find out the the replacement wont also. I can't even say that it works anymore. But I can send you a pic if you still want?

I'm kinda funny like that. Every part I take off my cars to replace, I end up keeping just because.
