Took a nasty spill today!
« on: April 01, 2009 - 10:10:58 PM »
One my employees rode his new Honda 600RR motorcycle into work today. He keep egging me on to ride it eventhough I told him its been years since I've been on one. Finally it got to me and I hopped on it to run some errands. Well when they say that people dont see you on a motorcycle its 100% true. Within 5 minutes some old dingbat pulls right out in front of me! I hit the brakes and everything is ok and I should have taken the hint and headed back. Well another couple of miles down the street I'm turning right onto another road and as I am starting off a Jeep turning left onto the street I was on swerves into my lane and all I could do was dump the bike to avoid hitting him!!! Good new it that I wasnt going too fast yet however I still came down hard on my right side and took the skin off my knuckles (almost to the bone) and skinned up my arm. Well at least I wasnt killed and the bike wasnt too bad off. I wont ride another one without leathers and gloves!!!

Glad your okay.  :2thumbs:   I ride also and I know what you mean when you say they don't see you.  That's why I ride with the philosphy that I'm invisible to everybody else.  So far so good, but I know my time is coming.  Hope you keel quickly.

Sorry to hear you had an accident. I have not had or ridden a street bike since 1998 when I got some serious road rash and a back injury from a bike wreck. Same thing, idiot did not see me and turned in front of me. Nothing like spending an hour or so scrubbing out your own road rash, man I can still feel the pain when I think about it  :puke:

Man :22yikes: Glad you're ok. I love bikes and want another one real bad, but every time I drive anywhere and watch the brain dead morons on the roads that almost kill me in my truck, I decide that it's not the same as when I used to ride and I think I'll go home every night intact in my truck. You could be Wayne Rainey and some idiot will still kill you. :grinno:

Be careful out there.
Don't look back, I might be gaining on you.

Glad your ok, Dave.  :grinyes:  Yep, with all the distractions that people have while driving, phones, texting, etc....it's a wonder you got down the first block!  You should try Boston driving!  :faint:

There are so many bad drivers out there, i was driving my challenger the other day on main street and some guy in an SUV drove by me in the other lane looking at my car and i looked up at my rear view mirror and the idiot had his head out the window looking back at my car while he was driving and almost rear ended someone.

Shame Shame :nono: :nono: How dare you drive such a distraction.

The last time that happened to me a naked lady was clinging to the front of my truck. :smilielol: :roflsmiley:

Glad to hear you weren't hurt too badly but still you got hurt. I would love to get a Harley and cruise around town on small errands but it's way too dangerous. People don't see my car let alone a bike.  The roads are too dangerous around here. If you live away from the city and traffic it might make more sense to ride a motorcyle.

I do love it when people stare at my car as i drive by, before my dads mustang got rear ended someone almost ran into me while they were staring at it.   its ok to check out other cars as they drive by but for goodness sake focus on not hitting anyone with your own vehicle

Thanks guys! Feel much better today. Almost made my wife sick when I showed her my knuckles! Today it looks much better. Amazing how the body heals! I think I done with the motorcycle thing for a while.
