nobody is safe
« on: April 01, 2009 - 10:56:38 PM »
Well i hit the chopping block today! At least i still have a job (for now) but i have been cut in pay (drastically )and down to a reduced work week. More time for the rebuild but less money to get in finished. So close but yet so far. Came home and told the kids and both of them were teary eyed about the whole situation. Bottom line is that this down turn sucks A$$! what to do next???

Glad you're still employed. Some pay is better than no pay. Hang in there.

Don't look back, I might be gaining on you.

It's getting very scary for a lot of folks. So far so good for us though, but you never know.

I agree with that.  Just as I thought I was going back overseas and now not sure if they will or when they will offer a job for me to go back to.  I hope to get a new one soon.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

This is the worst economy I've seen in 25 years.  I've gone from being cocky in my job to worrying about layoffs in less than a year.  Everyone need to hang tough and ride this one out.

I call small to major companies all over the U.S. everyday. No matter how hard I try, I cannot get any drawings to get quoted. I mean it's really scary. I've never seen anything like this.

But I can tell you one thing...

They're getting ready to gear up for the upswing. We're getting first article agreements and audit requests. Hang in there everybody.

Call on companies for wire harness schematics to do quotes. For everything and anything.

I did very well in the last downturn in the early 80s being a locksmith & changing locks on all the foreclosures & empty buildings , you do not get a warm fuzzy feeling doing this though  :faint:
