What you see & think is the bottom edge of the valve cover, is the raised cover that the plug wires run down. ( the middle of the cover )
These are chromed, but you get the idea.

It's a first generation hemi for sure. Even has a governor on it for the truck application.

I have seen smaller hemi's before. 292 ? Desoto ect. They did not have huge heads either.
