Congratulations to Dan Marinoff ICCA O.E. Gold Winner
« on: April 03, 2009 - 02:35:07 PM »
On behalf of the ICCA judging team I would like to congratulate Dan Marinoff for reaching the level of OE Gold with his Rallye Red 1971 Hemi 'Cuda at the 2009 Mopars At The Strip event in Las Vegas Nevada.

Dan car was beautifully restored by Rocket Restorations, Olympia Washington. Their fine efforts earned the car a ICCA O.E. Gold certificate.

Nice car!

If you go to the ICCA web site (web address at the botom of my first post) you can read more about the judging process. The item total points vary with the car and it's options, the percentage of correct vs incorrect points is what is scored. Most cars have a total points score between 2,700-3,500 total points scored. So, as you can imagine with so many points counted, a fair number of point deductions need to be taken to affect the overall percentage. For the 2009 standards that have been established, to reach the Bronze level your car needs to score approximately 75%, Silver 85%, and Gold 95% or better.

You gotta take your hat off to the guys that do this level of restoration  :clapping:  Trememdous amount of research, work, dedication not to mention the :money:.  The car is beautiful, but only problem is that you can't drive it...it's a museum piece now.  What fun is that?  :dunno:

Actually you "can" drive them. All 3 cars ran great, not to mention that back in January I was at the Pavillion car show in Phoenix (a monster sized local cruise in show in a big local shopping center parking lot) what did I see? Bruce Hershberger DRIVING into the show in his pink 440+6 Challenger (which one OE gold in Vegas last month). Pic was taken at the Pavillions......So some of you guys assume to much.

:smokin: I'm impressed on many levels.  I'll never restore my car to that level.  I try to keep it close to original in my restorified way.  Even going that route I've found it isn't cheap.  The cost of restoring a car to that level is beyond my imagination at this point (owning a 70 challenger vert) and to have more than one at that level is a stunning achievement.  Pretty amazing to me! I can only imagine the joy driving those cars must provide him and the members of his family.  All I can do is applaud his efforts.  :clapping:  Definately a job well done.
