Challenger front spoiler options ?
« on: April 04, 2009 - 09:31:02 PM »
Other than the T/A front spoiler what are our options? I was wondering if there was something resembling Sam Poseys I know that was Fabricated  aluminum, maybe something the same shape but not as long? In the real world we have curbs and railroad tracks! :)

Have you ever seen it on a car? Does anyone on hear have it? I was wondering about the quality/fit and finish?
LOL Maybe Boydsdodge and I should get together and make a pair? Sounds like our cars will be twins except for the years and colours!

Myself and some others have the MAS racing one for Cudas.  The Challenger one basically looks the same.  It's just a thin fiberglass spoiler and doesn't come with any mounting holes or hardware (what do you expect for 50 bucks)   :D   I used the drain holes on the front valance and drilled through the 90 degree lip on the spoiler.  I like the way it looks.  I'll eventually makes some brackets and fiberglass them in to the back side of the spoiler to better support the bottom.

I know it's not a Challenger, but it at least gives you some idea of how it looks.

There's this TransAm style one that's really long for Cuda's.  Perhaps this would fit a Challenger or there's a Challenger version floating around?

I like the look of the MAS one, its too bad its just a thin piece of fiberglass. I wonder if I could beef it up with more 'glass to make it more functional. Or maybe use it as the beginning of a mold for a stronger one...  :clueless:

Won't work on a Challenger because of the turn signal pods. Challengers have them, Cudas don't. I also think the curve on the front valance is just different enough to prevent the spoiler from fitting nicely against the valance of a Challenger even if you cut out holes for the turn signals.

Anybody out there look into using a 69 Boss Mustang front spoiler?
I know there might be some modifying to do but it's a nice looking spoiler.

making the mold would be the only way to go. If you reinforce it on the backside using glass, it will bend or warp due to the heat when drying.

You've got a good point there, if you did the whole thing at once it might warp. But I think if you worked in smaller sections, or reinforced the edges first, you might be able to do it. If you just took one piece of mat and dumped a bunch of resin in though you're definitely right, it would warp.
