I'd love to have a Super Coupe. Unfortunately most of them I've seen are listed for prices that are quite a bit more than I'm willing to pay for an F body.

Thats a pretty cool car, i saw an aspen super coupe the other day on ebay i think, i wish i would have saved a pic of it, it had white seats and door panels with some sort of funky looking stripes in the seats and door panels that were all different colors.

Actually I was of the understanding all super coupes came with the 360 mag./pursuit engine...........? The 360 we built for our Challenger came out of a sc, a "pursuit" engine, and it even came from the factory with a windage tray. Ours came out of a 78 model and since the 440 was no longer an option it was the same engine used in law enforcement units. Is this correct ?

What is a S/C.... Looks like a roadruneer to me  :dunno:

Road Runner and R/T where predominatly trim (appearance) packages that could be added to any available F body engine combo. Super Coupes and Kit Cars were actual performance packages that required V8s and came with parts unavailable with other F body, options otherwise. Like the fender flares, 8" cop wheels, and the "premium" engine, the E58 360. E58s is what were available in the Little Red Express truck. They came with 4bbls, bigger 340 spec cam, windage tray, and shot peened cast iron cranks.

I bet that car is pretty quick with it being so light and having a police interceptor engine. Very nice car

Interceptor is actually a Ford term. Lightweight is also relative. A lot of F bodies weigh as much as a big block E body, some even more. 3600-3800 pounds is not an uncommon weight range for F bodies. It took a lot of work to get my Aspen drag car down to the 3000-3100 pound range.

I almost bought this, the brother of the SC.  A 78 Aspen R/T.  It needed alot of work, and wasn't worth the 1500 he was asking.

I almost bought this, the brother of the SC.  A 78 Aspen R/T.  It needed alot of work, and wasn't worth the 1500 he was asking.

Actually, if all the flares were intact, then it was probably JUST worth the $1500 since it also has the three piece deck spoiler and louvers. Full flare packages, three peice spoilers, and complete, intact, good condition grills are worth a pretty fair amount these days. Wheel flare sets will go for $1000, 3 pc spoilers up to $300 and grills are up to $200 or so. Single peice spoilers are more common and only get around $100. Disc brakes are worth a few hundred, tuff wheels, if equiped are another hundred or so, but that's about it for valuable parts unless you also have an E58 engine. Parting out an F body is a dicey proposition at best.

Last fall I sold my drag car, an 80 Aspen with a 76 front clip. I got $2000 for it without the engine and trans, which is exactly what all the used race parts were worth if I parted it out, so he basically got a completely rust free body for free.

Those are definitely a different looking car, but very cool in their own sense.  It'll be really cool to see it once she gets a chance to restore it. :2thumbs:

Oh and Cody, I think we have a Shelby admirer on our hands. :lol2:   It's cool you saved those photos, though.
