O.K. Here is another one. Years ago about 1985 I pulled a complete 426 Hemi out of a 71 Demon and once I got it home while we were standing around it staring at it and drinking Beers. I said to myself "Man I'm never going to get rid of this" I'm going to keep this for my Cuda and both are going to be handed down to my first Born Son. Here is a photo of the complete assy as it came out of the 71 Demon

Well in 2002 I was in a bad spot. Real bad spot. With 2 little boys, my first born sons name was Arthur and he was about 3yrs old at the time and my other son Denny was 2. So the Hemi was up for sale and a Guy was over with a lot of cash at hand to had over to me for the Hemi. 7000 thousand to be Exact. I was out of work for several months and behind on my house payments 3 months and they were threatening legal eviction. So I'm showing the motor to this guy he is just about to hand over the cash and as we are both looking at the side of the block, I noticed the serial #s and the date on it and It almost brought a Tear to my eyes.

The block was dated 8-19-68. I stepped back and lite a smoke and remembered all of a sudden what I had said the first day I got it home. That I would never sell it and would hand it down to my first born son. My first son was born on 8-19-1999 and the block is dated 8-19. I then told the guy sorry its not for sale and he was pissed and then even upped his price to 9000 thousand, then left. After about 10 days later I got a real good job and everything worked out after a while, and I still have that motor for my Cuda

I bought my challenger in 2003. It was originally a SE 318 car. the guy i bought it from had bought it from a guy that had owned it for over 20 years. In the early 80's the car was stolen and stripped, then recovered. The guy just parked it in his barn and didnt touch it for 20 years, then the guy i bought it from bought it. He had a little bit of bodywork done to it and then he needed money to build his house, so i bought it from him. The first thing we did was strip it. The overhead console was missing but there were still tape marks on the headliner where it had once been held up by tape (this is very important later in the story). We were in kansas city, MO visting one of my moms friends and her husband told us that there was a swap meet/drag race going on today, so we loaded up and went to it, we got there and turns out it is an all mopar swap and drag. I was looking around adn there was an SE overhead console, it was the same faded blue that my headliner was, so i bought it for 50 dollars. it also had some tape marks on it, we got it home and the tape marks lined up perfectly!!!!!! i had bought the original headliner that was stolen out of my car some 20+ years ago!! the guy taht we bought it from said that he found it in the back of a 69 firebird in the late 90's and had never been able to sell the "POS"   and thats how i got the original SE overhead console that went to my car.

Ok new guys turn:

In october 1973 my wifes great aunt special ordered a Black on Black Barracuda (black paint, black vinyl roof, white vinyl interior).  She drove it day in day out (in Winnipeg Weather) until 1995 when she got tired of the car and wanted something new.  My father in law bought it off her (along with a box full of receipts and other documentation) for my wifes birthday present.  She drove it day in day out until it was very badly rusted....the bank would not give them money to fix the car, instead they would rather give them money for a new car.  The Barracuda got sold to my wifes uncle (for $1,000) who drove it from Winnipeg to just outside Ottawa.  The car sat untouched for years in a garage.  When my wife and I started dating in 1998 I started begging the uncle to sell it back to us as he wasn't doing anything with it.  Finally in 2004 he agreed to sell it back to me for $1,000 so my father in law and I drove up to Ottawa to pick it up.  Trailering it home was awesome....surprised at how many people honked and gave a thumbs up as they passed....not to mention the discussions at the gas stations.

So now I'm restoring a severly rusted barracuda which holds a ton of sentimental value

Have a ton of stories, one funny one was a speeding ticket in the console of a Challenger I bought.   Was from two previous owners before.   Looking at the ticket, he was born the very same day/year as I was.

Here's one that my dad told me. In 1971 my dad had a friend that had a brand new (1st owner) 1970 FC7 A66 340 4sp Challenger. My dad and his friend would carpool together and trade off vehicles to school (TCC). One morning my dad called his friend to make sure he would be ready when he went to pick him up and his friend said that he was still getting ready and that my dad should just go on without him. While my dad was driving to school he was going under an overpass where the road dipped under it. He looked in his rearview mirror and spotted this 70 Plum Crazy Challenger rising over the ridge and approaching fast. By the time my dad looked to his left the Challenger had passed and was far in front of him. Needless to say my dad's friend made it to school before he did.

It was about 1980 and I was about 20 years old .I was in the Marines engaged to get married in a few weeks . I was stationed in NC and went home for week ends every chance I got . This week end there was a freak snow fall in NC and the base shut down for 2 days . I was in Albany NY and didn't know about the snow till I got to NY city to pick up a passenger and he told me .

So I went back to Albany and to make a long story short I was up all 4 nights . I waited till the last minute to head back which meant no stopping on the way back . About 2 AM in Virgina I started falling asleep . My rider refused to drive so I kept pushing . Next thing I knew I slamed into the back of a Pinto at 70 MPH on I 95 .

I was OK my friend seemed ok so I ran to the Pinto , thank god they were good . Next I went back to my car and now my rider started going into shock . I knew a little 1st aid and tried to keep him calm till help showed up . I rode with him to the hospital and after they said he was ok I started hitch hiking to base I was broke by that time .

I made it back 2 days late tried and hungry . My 70, 383 Cuda was towed to the local Chevy dealer . That S O B was hitting me $14.00 per day storage plus towing .

I could drive it except a radiator . So I took a bus back carrying a radiator , talked the driver into letting me out going by and I changed in in the driveway .

Well 30 years later I still have the Cuda and I'm still married to the same girl . :dunno: :dunno:
