After getting all the slack out how much should you preload? I think I turned in 2/3 of a turn on my FE engine if I remember right.
This is on hydralic lifters with Crane ductile adjustables on 906 heads.

Usually 1/2-3/4 of a turn with the ductile iron rockers will give you plenty of pre-load (.020-.030) with hydraulic lifters.
