HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: April 07, 2009 - 12:25:43 AM »
I have a 77 Aspen wagon (survivor with 27k on the clock) that I am having problems with.  It sat for 18 months at my parents' before I could get up to drive it home.  During that time it didn't get started.  So, when I went to start it - it wouldn't.    :swear:  It had a bad resistor.  Next it wouldn't stay running - had to get a rebuilt carb.   :stomp:  Next, the starter siezed - new starter.   :pullinghair:  Now, it will run at an idle all day, but will not run more than 30 seconds when put in gear (sometimes it shuts down immediately when put in gear).   :banghead:  It has my mechanic and me stumped.  He's putting a new fuel filter in it, but I don't believe that will solve its problems.  (We checked the tranny fluid and it smells just as fresh as if it were poured from a new can.)

Any ideas?  I really need to get on the road as I have to get back to my job (so I can keep it!)

Thanks Wade.  I saw the start of that thread, but missed the solution.  I'll let him know tomorrow.

Check to see that the ECU has a good ground being that it sat for some time.
