bought a "Barn Car" today.........pix
« on: April 08, 2009 - 08:19:03 PM »
...long story

...in 1969 I was sitting at a light in my 68 GTO, when the owner of this Judge pulled up beside me looking for a race....light changed and he was gone before I knew what had happened.....first time I ever saw a Judge, didn't even know what it was

...thru the decades I always heard the car still existed and it was stored close to my home, but I never ever made contact with the owner and always heard the car wasn't for sale anyway...everytime I went down the street I  looked at the garage where I thought it might have been, but never saw anyone to talk to and when I stopped I never found anyone at home...

...last week at my restaurant a lady sitting next to me mentioned casually she had a 69 Judge she bought new, I knew immediately which Judge it was...we talked and she told me she was ready to part with it due to recent changes in her health and the next day she called to see if I really wanted the car...today, I became the owner of the "Barn Judge", the mysterious Judge I had seen 40 years ago and had pursued for decades.... the car has been parked in the same little garage since 1975....it's dusty, dirty and needs some TLC, but 40 years later it is heading home with me....

...a friend is scheduled to pick the car up Friday and relocate it to his resto shop for a thorough photo doccumentation, cleaning and mechanical evaluation....the goal for now it to record everything for reference during a future restoration and to see if it can be road ready once again.... or, maybe it can be a decent "survivor"

...all those years and it was within easy walking distance of my house

AWESOME!!!! I love '69s. :) My dad had a '69 back in the '80s and early '90s. It was blue with blue interior. It also had a Ram Air 3 with a 4spd. I've been looking for it forever and I finally got a big break. It was spotted a few hours away at a car show. Pretty beat up but still together. :2thumbs: Can't wait to see more pictures of yours.

Wow! Have you had that horseshoe surgically removed from your butt yet?
Congrats one of my Favourite Muscle cars!!! :2thumbs:
A friend of mine has had a 69 Judge convertible sitting in his garage for 20 something years. He would never part with it.  It was in nice shape! One day I mentioned it and he said Oh I sold that last month for $18,000? Just my luck! Timing is everything!

If I remember correctly, the cowel scoop pops up and says   Here Comes The Judge  right?    My friend got a new one identical  to your new car.  We melted tires for a week before they popped

Very cool! The fact that you knew of the car for all those years makes it that much sweeter.

...another unusual twist to this car story

...the lady I purchased it from was actually the original owner and she purchased the Judge from Wells Pontiac, Richmond In, the same dealership I purchased my new 68 GTO from just a few months earlier...she drove the Judge off the showroom floor...apparently it was her boyfriend/husband I ran into that cold night 40 years ago who was in a racing mood...

...some moments stick in your mind forever and I remember EVERY detail of that evening, seeing the new 69 GTO Judge for the first time...headed home from dropping off my date, listening to the "Turtles" on my Craig 8-track, cool night air, cruising the strip, felt like king of the world until I looked to my left and saw the hideous Orange GTO with the funny decals.....I kinda felt like the world had changed at that moment and I still had on brown shoes(old military joke)

....no pop up scoops on the Judge....you could take out the plugs for RAM AIR, but nothing popped up or opened up on the hoods
