So what should I pay
« on: April 09, 2009 - 05:14:43 PM »
What would you guys say a 71 Cuda convertible all matching #, all original metal (incl trunk and floor), restored to stock.  340 shaker auto, 74000 miles.  Winchester Grey with white interior, build sheet included is worth?

If taht was my car i dont think i would take 50,     especially if it was a fresh restoration, or a really nice weekend cruizer. Car looks pretty slick. but thast just my opinion

Considering less than a year ago I sold a 70 cuda clone for 40k I would say a numbers 340 71 convertible would probably still pull 75k.

If the rest of the car is as nice as what is shown in the picture and it is restored to the condition as stated, I wouldn't think you could buy it for under $55,000.00. The '71 model year Barracuda is the most desirable, add 4 speed, covertible and restored. That's a lot going for it!! Sweet ride!! Wish it were mine!!

Sure, the economy's in the toilet, but that car is still worth twice what I make in a year, which puts it into the six digit range.

If you can get it for $50K, hock everything you own to buy it.

It sure is nice - with some nice trim pieces (on the tag - not all on the car).

Thanks for the feedback - and the tag decode 70burntorangeR/T.
I did know that it was not a shaker hood car but the seller has the original hood too.  Do you think having the shaker de-values the car??

VTMopar - thanks for the trim tip but what do you see on the tag that is not on the car??  Not doubting but learning.

It would devalue the car some.    I figgure it's worth more with the shaker them putting the original hood back on it though

Well, I've been searching for the wide trim for my challenger convertible so when I looked at the tag I focused on the M31 code (Belt & Hood Molding).  I think this is the code for the chrome trim that goes on the rear of the fenders and hood.   That said, you should realize I'm a Challenger guy and there are folks on this site that know far more than I about these things.....    This sure looks like a very nice car and good luck on your decision!

Belt moldings on Cuda's were only on the door & 1/4 tops, not on the fenders or hood.

The added Shaker, while not original will ADD to the value of the car.   :2cents:

If you could buy it for around $50,000 I would jump on it and to the right buyer the shaker adds to the value of the car. It also is a rare color which down the road will only add to the cars value.

Maybe its that perfect, new looking fender tag but if I were serious about this car I would check the numbers very carefully. New or otherwise perfect looking fender tags bother me. Beautiful car though.

The fender tag on my car has no issues what so ever. No rust, nicks, or dents.  But I could see how anyone would be skeptical. And you should always do your research on a high dollar car.
