Taurus guns are good guns, probably better built than several of the U.S. made 1911's on the market today. I don't think you'll go wrong with those guns!

Here is my Taurus. Its not perfect but its in great shape and shoots really nice. Having a 17 round clip doesnt hurt either
Short story, my dad has a Smith & Wesson 9mm and the first time we got together to shoot them we swapped. His has a 10 round clip which is relatively decent. I made sure to put one in the pipe and told him to shoot the clip. After about 15 rounds he looked at me and asked how many bullets does this damn thing hold?   :roflsmiley:

I looked at the S&W 9 and 40, single action though and the safety was on the trigger, bought the Ruger P95 which is completley ambidextrouis

Mine is ambidextrous except for the clip release and slide lock.

As far as 1911's go, the Taurus are pretty nice for the money.

For the best of the best, Les Baer makes incredible 1911's. Once you shoot one of those you will never look at another the same.

The Glock 40 cal. semi is suppose to be a nice protective device. I have been considering one for working out on the ranch in case charged by a lion or pig.  Quick, manageable, accurate shots, sent out with stopping power that won't just bounce off their heads is the goal. A 9mm is good for multiple close range hits while the 44 mag is powerful but slow. The 40 has the knock down and still pretty fast I'm told.

What do you mean by "slow"?

If a weapon has more stopping power per round, why would you need "multiple" shots?

1 well-aimed shot is worth 10 quick shots.

I guess it depends on the situation and how good the one shot is. :scared:

I prefer my 44 Super Red Hawk.  7.5 barrel.
I want to get the Alaskan, basically the same as the SRH but with a 2.5 barrel.
We go out and shoot prarie dogs at 100 yards.
When I bow hunt I make sure to have the SRH handy.
This gun will take down any target you put in front of it.

My wife uses a Ruger P89DC.   Nice gun,  it is a little bulky but shots fine.
We have plenty of bullets so I havn't purchased any in some time now.

I have a Ruger 44 and a P89. Can't really say which would work best in any given situation. Their 22 target gun seems to shoot most accurate though. :2cents:

I shoot a Colt 45 auto National Match that had some work done on it. This is my target from my Concealed Weapons Class. We shot a total of 50 rounds at distances between 3 yards and 15 yards. All rounds were timed all free hand no rest. I score 50 out of 50. It was only the second time I shot in 15 years. I have no problem with trusting my 45. Over the counter CCI Blazer ammo and NOT ONE Misfire or Jam.

Yeah I still have to do the shooting part from my conceal class, we were rained out as the instructor has an outdoor shooting range on his land.

Hey pink panther, in case you missed it, CODY has offered to sell you 600-700 rounds of 9mm ammo. You just need to get with him and discuss a price if you are interested. His reply is in this thread.

I just picked out my pistols and am waiting for them to be added to my permit so I can finally pick them up.  Here is my Kimber 9mm http://www.kimberamerica.com/pistols/cdp/ultra_cdp_II/ and I also got a little Kel-tec P-3AT .380

Very nice pieces April. LOL the lil .380 is soooooo cute   :lol2:  Itll still put a hole where you need it though. I have a Bersa dual action .380 that is pretty cool.
