    I was watching the Mecum Auto Auction tonight and saw the Last 71 Hemicuda built go across the block. It bid up to $525,000.00 but did not hit reserve.  I also saw two 66 Hemi Belvederes go across. One hardtop sold for $ 95,000.00 ahd one Conv. which was 1 of 6 built bid up to $ 125,000.00 I think but was a no sale.
    Some people have money to spend.

    That car has made rounds at almost every Mecum auction for years.  It is a cool car, just they are always trying to make a quick buck.

    That's big money for a 66 Hemi Belvedere! Wonder if it was a survivor, or OE Gold at Nationals winner.

    Or...Most likely a buy back or fake bid.

    Im yet to see an oe gold car sell at auction with the parts that were on it at the nats .oe or survivor doesnt hold much value when customs and resto mods bring more . my point is some times it comes down to what the buyer wants .

     :22yikes:   last hemi or not... I think it`s a huge ammount of money these days...   didn`t hit reserve...  :screwy:       looks like some kind of auction filler to me... great to look at, but not for sale.

    Good point. All that extra money for the primo NOS parts are rarely, if ever, going to be reflected in the sale price. OE cars would rarely if ever pan out financially for what the owners have into them.

    Yes, all it takes in one buyer. In an auction supposedly two, but auction company regularly have shill bidders in the audience. But, I wonder if there was something exceptional or special about that 66 Hemi Bel. An auction price and a model listing is not much to go on. That's an outlier in the average price range on 66 Hemi cars.

    certain rare cars live at the auction houses......somebody buys in at BJ in Jan and goes to Mecum in spring or wherever....constant cycle....they never trade by private hands.....

    Im new here but how do we know that the car in question is the last one .from other threads i have read chryslers records are gone . is there some person of unquestionable knowledge that
    has copys from chrysler . there is a guy that has a great record of trading hemis for a price of around ten grand that seems to find every ones matching engines and it  seems hard to believe
    so many engines are found much less intact . im truly overwelmed
    here . :clueless:

    There would be no way to know for certain that a car was the last one built for a model year unless Chrysler released its production records.  This cuda is almost certainly the latest production one that has been documented at this point.
    Someday, possibly, another hemi cuda built after this one, or its broadcast sheet, or dealership sales record, will surface, and this one will lose its distinction!
    This one has been at many Mecum auctions, they should have sold it a few years ago before the prices started going down! :2cents:

      good points ,i would like to add to this in that if the car sold a few years back they might not have sold so many tickets .it could pay for its self on just hot dogs and beer
