71 Challenger grille colors (Totally Auto)

No light argent on the 71. There is however plenty of the grille silver. Even on the tail pannels and black R/T grilles.

I stand corrected. I guess all the originals I have seen have been sunblasted pretty good. I could swear they were all light argent. Oh well, at least I did not make an expensive mistake because I am about to do one of my grilles soon. 
What is the color of black that is on the inside of the inserts before the grill silver? Is it organisol? will satin black work good there?

For the black sections I used a flat black. It matched what was there and matched the unpainted sections. Satin black might stand out more. I wanted as close to stock as I could get from a few rattle cans.

Did you disassemble the grill when you painted it? I noticed in one of the pics that there are rivits on the center sections. Where did you find them?

Aaaaaa.... The rivets..... 

Yeah they were alot of fun. I removed and reinstalled all the rivets. And they were a pain to get out without cracking nothing. I put just a tiny drop of epoxy on them when I put it all back together.

Are they regular rivets? Man, these old 71 grills are not the most sturdy pieces around. I am becoming a fan of the 70 grill more and more as time goes by just because its metal. They took a BIG step backwards making the 71 grill out of almost all plastic

No not a regular rivet. Don't loose any.

I did 2 grilles. One I took apart. If you take it apart just be carefull. Around the rivit is where it will break. I had one crack around one rivit hole. I repaired it with the epoxy.

But getting back on topic, I will let this speak for the Totally Auto Dark Argent and Grille Silver paint.

I bought a 70 grille just because I plan on driving the Challenger and the 71 grilles are too fragile and expensive, plus I like the looks it.
