E-Body Products Challenger - 5.7 Hemi Install

We finally added the stripes on the Challenger.  We chose the 71 style R/T stripes and they look good.  It was easier than I thought to apply them too.

Just wanted to share a picture.

Oh yea, the wheels are temporary for moving it around.  The wheels that are on the car are trailer wheels.

The black stripes contrast nicely with the black top. Looks great! Its cool to hear they were easy to install. Makes me not so worried to try it. How long do you have to position the stripes before they start to get tacky? My fear has always been to get most of the way done and have the stripe stick before I am finished moving it around.

I thought that you would be able to move the stripes around for awhile.  Not the case.  They stick really quick.  We laid the stripes out on the car and taped them really good in the middle (You have to work from the center out).  Then we had reference tape marks along the bottom of the stripe. Have one person lay down the stripe making sure that the stripe follows the reference tape marks along the bottom and the other person begins to squeege the stripe.  From my experience, there is not much re-positioning once they are laid down.  We also did as the instructions show.  We put 10 drops of dishwashing liquid and on cap full of alcohol in the spray bottle.  Spray the car and the back of the stripe.  Leave about 3/8" extra material to wrap around the fender and door openings.  You can do this.  If you mess up, I have heard that you can remove the stripe with a hair dryer and start over.  Also, make sure the car is clean prior to starting and get a buddy to help.

Brett - it's realy not too hard to do.  Avoid the sun and wind, when you do it.  Follow the instructions and you'll be golden just like dj1965   :2thumbs:

I agree, I did have plenty of set time though.  The stripes weren't really "stuck" until I started squeegying out the water mixture.

Just got the 5.7 installed in the Challenger.  My dad can't wait to drive it.  This has sure put the brakes on my Cuda project though.  Be sure to cut the oil filter adapter to clear the K-Frame if you try this.  See the picture.  The harness and computer are on the way.   :jumping:

We used a cherry picker (engine hoist) to lift the Body and moved the engine/k-frame assembly under the car.  This is the OEM technique and it worked great.  Much easier and less risky than setting the motor in from the top.  :drunk:

Has anyone heard anything about the new harness and computer for the 5.7 hemi from MSD?  I have heard that the harness is around the $180.00 range and the computer is around $480.00.  This would be much less than the harness and computer that we bought to go in my Dad's challenger.  Does this harness work OK with the factory fuel injection system?   :1zhelp:

Any feedback on this would be appreciated...

I think its for a carb not an EFI from the MSD site.

I for one dont quite understand why someone would want to put a new hemi in their car and then go and put a carb on it. I thought part of the benefit of putting the new hemi in a car was all that is gained with efi over carburetion.   :dunno:

I agree too.  We plan to keep the hemi's factory fuel injection in place. 

Any info on 5.7 hemi with 4-speed install would be appreciated.  I have heard that the Lakewood scattershield will work with the OEM truck flywheel.  Is this the case?

I would go with the quick time bell it fits the tunnel better than the lakewood.  :working:

I have one in my car with a t-56 magnum behind a 6.1.  :bigsmile:
