im kinda courious why the rt is so important .

The R/T would be important because if it is a real R/T then it would be worth a lot more then if it was just a base challenger.

My car is just a BH car, but I enjoy it so much, I really dont care about resale value right now.  Hope I am never forced to sell it due to the economy

i think you guys missed my point. i all ready realize the rt value issue . im saying that if the cars cheap id buy it and do what ever makes money either build and keep or cut it up and ad to my cash stash for a better buy .the rt is a mute point to weather i would buy it just grab and run 5k or less . but the guy here that wants the car cant afford the car no matter what the vin says so its a dead horse .

im kinda courious why the rt is so important . i never owned the car. i may have built it but the info i gave will tell more or its not the car a better hood shot would tell me if its my paint layout .my lay out would have been much like the challenger factory black out with a split up the middle . also this cars on its knees thats real bad no frame rails left .i would buy it if its the car i did .just for the parts .

Oops sorry, I figured the way you were replying that you had owned the car at one time.

Let me explain why I am interested in knowing whether it's a R/T or not.  I've been a MOPAR fan all my life.  I've got a nice collection of MOPAR magazines, and over the years have read stories of people stumbling on to rare versions of MOPARS.  As R/T's go there rare at least compared to base models.  For instance you guys probably already know that out of the 76,000+ Challenger produce in 1970 only 13,000+ were R/T's.

So here I am reading about these stories in MOPAR magazines, and there happens to be a classic 1970 Challenger (my favorite year for the Challenger's) only a few miles from my house, and I did not know it until recently.  That and it could be an R/T.

It's not about the value of the car to me at least, if I owned a R/T anything from Chrysler I'd never sell.  It's the idea of owning an awesome piece of MOPAR history, the REAL DEAL.  I prefer the R/T's over the base models.  I liked the options the cars had.  To me it's like finding a lost treasure, that's all.

Yes I know right now I can't afford to buy the Challenger, but I'm hoping within the next year to possibly change that.  It doesn't appear the Challenger is going anywhere.
