    IF its still legible preserve it .why fake a vin # and build month .is the car a match because it wont be with a new door vin  :2cents:

    faded so much you can't even read it.......Vin is on cowl, rad support and fender tag so to me no big deal......

    im sorry i kinda went over your head . if you repaint a door shell complete and install a new decal . when it goes up for sale some day  a good collector will have to ask was this car so bad that its door decal has been exposed to the elements and that alone will open other questions . when i buy at auction time to look cars over is short and one of the first points i look at is the door decal. if its intact but edgy i will look closer, the next look is i carry a inside scope to look at the back side of the cowl .
    the last things i look at are the dash and block because i wont pay any extra for whats easy to fake .my point is the paint behind the door decal cant be faked for many reasons and the cowl cant be either .the rest is easy to fudge . there are more shelbys and ss or rs cars registered in various registrys than were
    made because of a shortage of detailed locations like the door decal or the 5th didget  and the floor pinch weld #s.

    I don't think he is talking about making his car something that it is not, hi tag is just faded and wants a new ledgible one.  My car doesn't have the door vin tag, nor fender tag, but all others are matching so no big deal.

    your missing 2 tags no longer a matching car ,so a new decal would only help the cosmetics but hurt as a match .im not against the new tags . if a cars a complete match even with a faded decal and then its removed the car tanks as a match .this is a black and white issue is or is not complete .

    In all honesty.....WHO CARES :dunno:  We all don't have concourse Barrett Jackson Money MAKERS.   If you are in the top 1% of people looking for every single matching thing, then you can pay the major bucks. For the most part, an authentic Chrysler approved repop of a door tag is ok for most all of us here. Take no offense, we get your point.   :2thumbs:

    im not offended  i only pointed out that he could loose some small amount of his hard earned money if his cars a match and then not .i personaly dont care and wont loose a snooze over this thread
    for sure by dinner i will have .....o boy im informed my chicken pot pie is ready yum.
