Even most car parts are from out of the country unfortunately......  I can't count how many times I've seen premium line parts that say made in the USA on the box, open it up and the part says right on it Made in Brazil, Mexico, China, Hell, etc.  Apparently top dollar parts have their boxes made in America!   :-\

It is hard and darn near impossible in a lot of cases to buy American products, but I too try to support the working men and woman of this nation & buy American made products. As stated it's a free economy and a free individual choice. My choice is to buy American if possible.  :wavingflag:

I agree Matt it is hard to find somethings that are american made.  I try to buy american when I can,  In some ways we have priced our selves out of some area's everyone wanting more all the time.

here's a wakeup call folks-i have worked for the us government for 21 yrs-and we are bound to buy the most economical priced item first-no if/ands/or butts about it. they say we should try to find a company that is #1-american, #2 gender owned(female), #3 minority owned, #4 best price-but in the end-especially if buying i bulk(fire hose couplings, electronic control modules ect...)-BUT in reality it is #1- price and pick any other one-but it has to total at least 2-usually ends up being minority owed-and i am sick of it-but it pays the same-so i try not to get my shorts in a wad-and remember-I WORK FOR OUR F********G GOV.! it is same ol BS-don't ask -don't tell-don't do as i do-

I just bought a new left side exterior mirror for the Beast.  It was made in Taiwan.  There were no American made options....    :walkaway:

You've got the issue by the short and curly's. There are so few items left made in the U.S. that it isn't feasible to buy American. If you did you'd be sitting naked inside a house with no flooring, maybe no drywall, no plumbing fixtures, no light fixtures. You'd have gas but no furnace to warm your bony a$$. You couldn't leave unless you had a horse.

We need to bring manufacturing back to the U.S.
Don't look back, I might be gaining on you.

:iagree:  Here in   :aussie:  we are experiencing the same problems, the corprates are only interested in maximising their profits.   :money:
Many parts are made in China but not to the OEM standard and that is how they can cut even more costs on a product. Most of these imported parts are dangerous and at the least have a much shorter service life.   :villagers:
Some original OEM parts for cars are now procured from Asia and the manufacturers don't quality check those parts to make sure they are up to original spec's, they don't care anymore, besides they make more money out of spare parts.   :pullinghair:
Many well known Australian tool brands are now made in China and the "life time warrenty" the Australian tools had are now only guarnteed until it breaks, thus ensuring repeat business.   :banghead:

Bought the rear valance for my car and it was made in taiwan. fit horrible, i had to put bondo in it because it was so wavy, a thick priming and some spotting putty wouldnt take the waves out,    I had to use bondo on a brand new part!!!!!!!  Doesnt seem right now does it??

I can understand having to urathane primer them and then block them out or something, but bondo??? they should be able to make them without having to use bondo on them after you get them, but it was the same way with the 57 chevy fenders my dad did for a guy, had 4 hours worth of bondo work in each fender, and they were both brand new

Well,
My good old Duralast stoplight switch (it's the brake pedal switch that activates your brake lights) went bad (partially) on my Ford after only about 6 months of service. Made in China crap. I have to mash the pedal to the floor to make the brake lights come on. So I went to NAPA auto parts to get a better quality one. Usually Napa parts are better quality. I would buy American if i could. I ask for the switch which is a Napa switch and twice as expensive as the Duralast switch. Guess what's stamped on the box???  Made in Taiwan!! :swear: :swear: :swear:
