I have one more question. The side body molding, is it supose to be the same color as the rest of the car or is it supposed to be black? :dunno:

I think they were black.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Just wanted to update everyone with the progress. Just took out all the interior, Floor boards were solid as a rock. Im now getting ready to take out the motor an get it all prepped for the body work. It's a slow process but its nice to actually see it coming along lol. I'll have pics up as soon as i dump all my pics on the computer  :2thumbs:

don't feel bad that you got a deal. hell only gave 600 bucks for my 71 barracuda complete except for the pass. door glass. didn't have a engine but i didn't want the 318 anyways. i have had the car 10 years now as of last month. that is a very solid car you are starting with also.

When ordering from Year One try to order as much as you can at one time and either do it on the 'net, or get one of their promo codes from a magazine ad. You'll get nearly 25% off everything that way (on orders over $1000). But, DO NOT order PUI interior stuff (seat covers) though Year One. Go straight to Legendary. They'll match the price and they are the real deal - ask me how I know.
I hope you KEEP the 318. You'll save a lot of money and you can build it to  425HP by following several articles by HotRod, MoparAction, etc - all available on the net.
Eastwood has ALL the paint colors you need for the wheels, grille, tail panel, etc. Any body shop supply has the rest.
Good luck!!

Good idea to take plenty of picture during take down. Also lable things like nuts and bolts in baggies.

Good to hear it's all sound.

Just have a quick question for everyone? On the right quarter panel there is a considerate amount of rust and all along the side body moulding. Do you all recommend i completely replace the quarter panel or is it possible to just weld a new piece of metal on it? Is one of those options better than the other? I'd really like to keep all the original metal on the car. I'm trying to keep the car as original as possible. thanks

Rust along the body side molding.  Too me I would be suspect of rust around the wheel wells.   ON my challenger, when I really started searching there was rust thru here and there...more than my initial inspection found.  To be expected though, I'm not a body shop expert.
I would have saved many $$ if I would have rebuilt the 318 that came with my car.  So I'm agreeing with etek, and he is totally correct about the good 318 build articles, I have several of them.   Plus there are some 318 builds on this forum in the proven engine section.

There is rust along the Wheel wells of the car, but it does also extend over to the side body moulding. The car is completly stripped at the moment and im debating whether to just get the whole car media blasted or not to reveal any other rust. But i haven't decided yet. an i actually have decided for the moment to just keep the 318, im going to clean it up and just put it back in the car and just drive it that way for awhile. dont quite have the money to do everything i want to the car lol. but when its done i hope it will look pretty good. While the car is in the body shop i'm going to start ordering everything im going to need for the interior. Funny how fast your money goes when restoring you car :clueless:

A good foundation is essential if you want it to last and be dependable. These are older cars and usually need a bit of work, but that's half the fun.    Take your time and get as much information as possible to help make the these decisions. Maybe talk to a metal shop for an opinion on cost for a new skin or if new panels are needed.
