Pistol Grip rattle
« on: April 20, 2009 - 09:04:46 AM »
Hey Guys,

Any quick tips on how to eliminate (or reduce!) pistol grip shifter rattle?  The shifter is functioning fine and everything that needs to be tight, seems to be tight. :clueless:

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks!

Back in 86 I put a shim kit in mine, that took the slop out and stopped the rattles.Fairly easy to do but you have to pull the shifter and try different thickness shims.

Another thing that causes rattling problems is the top cap (the part that has the shift pattern on it). A little piece of weatherstrip foam under the grips will usually cure that problem.
