Al, when you get back will be fine for the guages.  I think they are always trying to get us on a diet up here and you are bang on about the speed limit.  Make good time while you can.  Good luck!

Work would not allow me to bring anything into through customs. Customs kept me for 4 hrs as it was with only work cloths and a cell phone.  I will have to ship guages and visors when I get home

From Southern Mexico, tumbler ridge is a long ways to go.  And driving from Iowa it is a journey in it's self.  I am in Lanigan Sassechuan or however you spell sasquatch.  Then it's 850 miles to tumbler BC.

My cell phone works great here. Verizon.  I paid 10 bucks more a month to add canada to my line. but I only got 1000 minutes.

The town here is about this big     ---------------------------------------------------------------   that's it. The bank closes at 4 mnt time so I cant get funny money exchange yet.

I was tee'd off when I didn't have my phone number list when I went through Fargo.  Neil, Im 130 clicks or so from saskatoon or something. I'm on Hwy 16.  How far in miles are you from here, then from Tumbler ridge?  Coal mine there and a fertilizer plant here.  Then off to virginia somewhere.

Hey, your prices suck around here.  They try to starve you guys or what?    I did hit an area where I could go 120 kph thou and not get a ticket.  Speed limits suck for sure

Well the closest you will get to me is Edmonton AL , you are almost 800km from me now so 8.5 hr drive , Tumbler ridge is 1000 km from me & I used to drive into that area almost weekly ... everyhting is expensive up here , we have to import it from south where stuff grows ... what are you doing buying to meals to get enough to eat ??
Speed limits are interesting for sure , nothing to hit but Moose or dear  for 100s of miles in any direction & we still have to drive slow everywhere , When you go through between White court & Valleyview on Hwy 43 be very careful , that is Moose Alley , I saw 17 moose in 1.5 hrs one night driving through there  .
 Be safe
Neil

Well darnit Neil.  I was trying to get close. I have to be on the job in tumbler on the 4th I think. I was hoping to get close enough for a hand shake and root beer. I got my bbq pit on my truck. Ribeye's, sausage, chicken and such. Microwaved lasagna tonight.   I still had'nt caught a bank open to covert my money. I am just useing debit card.  It is 850 miles to the next job. I hope to leave here 5-1 so if I get anywhere's close, I am going to try to see you. Or maybe on the way back down. I have a Yukon parked in saskatoon in long term. I am in my truck now.  I was told since I am not from here, I may be able to drive my 21,500 lbs rig with no cdl here since my state doesnt require me to have one.  I can go 550 miles on 1 fuel up.   At which point am I within range to you in mile wise?  Edmonton.  I will have to get a motel somewhere during the trip.

With all of that Alan you are making me hungry for sure.  Wish you were close to where I am at now.  Hope you do get to see Neil.  Take care and talk to you soon I guess.  Elaine is going to see about a 5 acre piece of land close over there and maybe we can get that.

I am not sure if it is the same one or not.  The one I am talking about is going to be owner financing also. 3 acres are clear and 2 in woods.  Sounds really cool.  Will hear about it tomorrow evening i guess.

On another note. It seems that every Canadian I have met here has a high moral level. I am really enjoying working with the 5 or 6 men they gave me.  Funny how some here think that south Dakota is a southern vacation and warm to them   It's great to share jokes and listen to all of our stories we share through out the day. It made the day fly by.  It always feels good to make new friends.  Watch when I break out the ribeyes for them. I will have more friends then money for steak.... :roflsmiley:  The people sure make me feel welcome.   Funny how the woman hit on my mexican helper. I tell everyone he is asian and that he had eye surgery in florida while on vacation.

haha sounds like you're having quite the adventure up here Al...lol  I wish I was working right now, I was working about half hour from tumbler ridge all winter, I could have dropped by for a visit easily.  Still may be able to make it to Carlisle if everything works out, my trip to Mexico that was during the carshow was cancelled, so hopefully if things work out i'll make it and meet you guys.   :2thumbs:

Have a safe trip and make sure you keep out of Bullwinkle's way, they are tough on cars and small trucks.....
By the way, when you get to my area you will be only 40miles from Mexico.... see you then..... :drunk:

Heard about your latest bout with mother nature out there.  Keep it away from us we're having enough fun with the water, we don't need snow too.

Thanks. Im in Grande Prairie Al  for the night.   I hope to be down around Calgery a wek from tomorrow.

I have learned quite a bit about this country i'm in.

TAXES
FOOD
FUEL
SHELTER

Is extremely high.

I really feel for you guys.
But the people are great, the view is good around here, and the weather turned for the good.  I was told they rented us apartments in tumbler ridge, so I bought a bunch of steaks and stuff since I was told a store was around 50 clicks away from us.

Hadn't seen hardly any muscle cars.   I did see a few rice burners with fart pipes tho :roflsmiley:   And it looks like you could all eat goose and ducks for the rest of your life and not dent the population
