My trip to Canada
« on: April 20, 2009 - 10:42:13 PM »
First off , my high speed is very slow right now. Slower than dial up for some reason. I drove straight up from Sioux city Iowa. On N I-29   When I got to Fargo, ND  seems the floods stayed all over the place right to the canada border. Now in Canada, I am being detour"d.  I am not able to be online as I drive. I know we had members in Fargo. It took 3 hrs at customs to get my work permit, then it got dark.  I am on my way to laning saskechuan. Middle of province and southern.  Looks like a few hrs from Edmonton.  Then In 3 weeks I head NW way up by the Yukon at a coal mine around Timber ridge BC. Hope connection is bettter tomorrow. I have PM's I cant answer right now.  It wont load for me.

And again, customs sure does take there time here.  :banghead:

I know what you mean Alan,  It was even worse for me when I came back to the states.  Take care and have fun.  Talk to you soon I guess.  Going to bed soon was a bad flight as well really bumpy the last part on a small plane.  Went sideways and all in it so it was really bad at times.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Hwy 75 to winnepeg is under water. Had to take a detour. 14 to hwy 3  im in winker right now. Such is life. I think 8 hr days, so maybe I can go see Chryco.   It took 16 hrs sunday to get to Sioux because of weather and flights.  Hope to have the internet speed up at the next motel.

Yeah only 1/2 way up the province, but to most people from the Excited States, anything north of the 49th is close to the Yukon!!

Work would not allow me to bring anything into through customs. Customs kept me for 4 hrs as it was with only work cloths and a cell phone.  I will have to ship guages and visors when I get home

From Southern Mexico, tumbler ridge is a long ways to go.  And driving from Iowa it is a journey in it's self.  I am in Lanigan Sassechuan or however you spell sasquatch.  Then it's 850 miles to tumbler BC.

My cell phone works great here. Verizon.  I paid 10 bucks more a month to add canada to my line. but I only got 1000 minutes.

The town here is about this big     ---------------------------------------------------------------   that's it. The bank closes at 4 mnt time so I cant get funny money exchange yet.

I was tee'd off when I didn't have my phone number list when I went through Fargo.  Neil, Im 130 clicks or so from saskatoon or something. I'm on Hwy 16.  How far in miles are you from here, then from Tumbler ridge?  Coal mine there and a fertilizer plant here.  Then off to virginia somewhere.

Hey, your prices suck around here.  They try to starve you guys or what?    I did hit an area where I could go 120 kph thou and not get a ticket.  Speed limits suck for sure
