Scratch that. Just called and finally got through (no reply to emails) and the car is an XP.

I've pulled the socks up and am moving on. My plans, like the 'Cuda for the most part. XVII Rear 3 link, XV1 front (to suit 15" rims), stiffening kit, stock appearing with hidden modern upgrades, nothing too serious, 540 Hemi and a built TF727 racing transmission, no OD, no frills, aiming for a lightweight badass straight line street brawler. Sorry for the long post but you did ask and it's the only way I can describe it, in greater detail.

Really? All legal too? Nice to know, I'll keep that in mind. I don't think it matters who or where the title is from, as long as the car has a title when it's time to register/VIN the car in New Zealand. Thanks Pete!

The only catch is the car has to look like a car.  No wrecks or autos with fenders missing ect. We break out the primer and paste together Pontiacs from the yard to make them look decent before we drag them down.

(sometimes different cars go down there at different times with the same fenders, hoods and seats)   It helps when you have the same models lying around....

Gotcha! How ever it is done, if a title is given to the car, that is all I'm concerned about.
Although, I wouldn't go through the hassle of bondoing a car up just to pass it lol

That brings me to a different subject.  Are you interested in getting an bare R/T chassis and pasting together a complete car?

I find that a much cheaper way of building cars then coming up with a running car that looks nice just to find out later it's a bent rusted bondo bucket. 

If you wanted another 'CUDA or two I could put some together in about 5 minutes but since you need a '68 Charger it will be a little harder. 

Still, I see lots of those rustfree 2nd gen Charger parts at the swap meets and they are easier to inspect when they are off the car.

Good question and in short, no. I really can't afford to spend countless dollars on shipping parts to "make" a car. The hassle alone being this far away would put me off doing it. If I were in the USA and could go to the local swaps, sure. I think at this stage a rolling chassis is the way to go. Saves time and money. Just need to find a car prior to being done up so I can see what I have to play with - no hidden surprises. One of the "best" deals I've found for an R/T car thus far is a 68 in Texas but it's a #s matching car (440/TF727) for $36,500.

Thus far that's about as low as I have seen for an original complete respectable R/T car. All going well you maybe able to get that down to $28-$30K. Still, over my budget and I'd hate to put the 440 on a stand for a show piece. Early days yet but searching all corners, there ain't much out there, not on the net away. Local traders will be hiding many. Need to get my hands on the latest Mopar Collectors Guide.

I could paste the car together here and once complete ship it.  Maybe it would have new fenders or floor sections just barely stuck on so your guys could have a nice start on a project you could go in any direction with.  Maybe get the whole thing together for 10Gs ?  Maybe less.  Don't underestimate how cheap I am. 

A real good place to get cheap parts is the upcoming spring fling.  You can usually find usable 'CUDA parts on the cheap and the B-bod parts are even more plentiful

Cool.  I'll do PMs from here out. There is this guy that lives by me with a '69 R6 red (XX) but that's an original car with the 440 still in it so......

Whoa, thats crazy prices, Carl.  I think that there are cheaper ones out there.  Unless you mean completely rust free, ie, no panel replacement. 

Cars on line is worthless if you're looking for a good deal.  I found one once, it was on there for a day and it was sold.  A #'s 68 R/T, just needed trunk extensions and lower quarter patches for $16,500.  Man how I liked that one, it was gone just as fast as it got on there.

Yup, I wouldn't buy that car just using it as an example of one of the better ones I've found. Way above my budget lol. Cars-on-line and Autabuy have a good amount of cars but still nothing ideal. But, have to keep looking. Tempting to just buy an XP car but, no.

Carl,title not always needed,when i bought my 70 WSS in from the states it only had a new york transferable regestration,all that was required for export out of Los Angeles was a notirized statement from the new york DMV,stating the car was owned with no leins and being sold to overseas buyer,had no trouble in whole processes and when i vinned and complied the challenger here in NZ only required transferable reg signed into my name and the notirized statement ,thoughtthis may help you if you find a XS Charger in a state where they  dont issue titles to old cars,good luck Paul
