What are you guys doing for radios?? (original?? CD player??)
« on: April 22, 2009 - 05:46:29 PM »
I am to the point that i need to put a radio in my car, i am not concerned with originality, but i dont want to do anything that cant be reversed. I was thinking of putting in a really nice AM radio just not hooking it up and installing a 6 disc changer in the trunk or something. What have you guys done with yours? and what mods, if any, did you have to make??

Thanks, Brandon

Two boards down is an "audio" board. I know others have mounted something in the glove box.

I don't listen to music much in my car. I have the original am on the shelf. Im going to let Greg  Wards classic radio repair clean it up soon. I am using an AM/FM stereo radio out of a 70 fury and already had a fader switch from the factory in my car. The wires were not hard to do

Got a CD stereo at PepBoys that sounds great and will blow my face off it's so loud (and I'm a working musician) Don't remember what I did exactly to put it in but it was minimal. Got some good 6x9's for the rear and mounted some small Bose speakers in the front that hang under the dash. Don't plan on ever putting the original non-working AM back in or paying to get it fixed so I don't care about reversing it.

Nothing fancy for me, I run a Pioneer DEHP9600MP. I like this one because it has a flip out monitor and for the location of the E-Body radios makes for easier controlling. Like most, I hardly listen too mine, 440 reasons lie under the hood. I only use it on long trips or when I have some company (to break the silence). ;D

I picked up a working 71-up style am/fm for my 70.  I love the way it looks and the way it sounds.  Sometimes the music is scratchy, just the way it should be in an old car.  I'm sorry but I hate the looks of new radios mounted in the dash, ruins the whole look.  If it's new, hide it :2cents:

I gotta say that the 2 things I dont like about the old cars are the front seats and the stereo systems. I will do my best to rectify both. If my car was rare or a show car it would be different but its just a base Challenger being built to be a fun driver.

I'm with you. I got a base car that has bass now.    Aftermarket radio, with amp in the trunk. I still have to work on the seat issue...   :working:
