ever seen one of these before?
« on: April 22, 2009 - 08:21:15 PM »
I was out going through some boxes of parts for Allen in New Zeland and came across this little jewel. You all have probably seen the four barrel version but have you ever seen a six pack engine pulling bracket? This is garage art I think I'll hang it on the wall.

Seen all kinds of those but not one for a 6 pack though.  Cool Good idea for 6 pack owners.  Not one yet but maybe some day.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I would be too worried to lift an engine that way if it had an aluminum intake.

I was wondering about that myself. You'd be spreading the load out over 12 points and a greater area of the intake. The weight would be the same but I'm curious how the stresses would be distributed across the 3-2 intake. :dunno:

I am not sure but think it would spread the wieght pretty good.  have lifted out 4 bbl aluminumn intakes with brackets before with no problems.   Not sure I would take the chance with a 6 pack intake.

I used a lift plate more than once on the aluminum intake on my 392 hemi (4 bbl) with no problem at all. Those old hemis are HEAVY! Well over 700 lbs.

I can convince my self that it should be fine, but the chicken in me gets scared.
