Market Adjustment
« on: April 22, 2009 - 10:32:12 PM »
Does anyone know how much the dealer market adjustment was on the original 2008 SRT-8 Challengers?  I see the local market adjustment on the 09 R/T's is $5,000  :scared: and I was curious what it was when these cars first came out

I'd remind the salesman that the company selling it is apparently 8 days away from Bankrupcy and liquidation. Might wanna rethink the inflated window sticker price.  ???

:iagree: Seriously. It never ceases to amaze me at the stupidity of dealerships. When the 08's first came out I remember hearing about people paying as much as 75k over sticker just to have one of the first  :screwy: at the same time though there were people buying them for less than MSRP.

Hey Trout, they were doing that last year when I was at that car show. If its the same dealership they are bad for inflating the price. The '09 trucks were just out and they were still jacking prices up on the remaining '08's lol. I dont see how their salesman make a living trying to sell cars at hugely inflated prices. Same dealer had the '05 300C's marked to just under 50k when they first came out.  :faint:

They all do the market adjustment on new models that are popular just to get the unsuspecting or "gotta have" impulse buyers.  Unless something is limited production or difficult to get you can usually negoiate the "market adjustment" away.  I would suspect that with the 09's.  I've seen new Shelby and Saleen Mustangs with 5-figure markups  :screwy:  I was just curious if people noticed this on the 08 SRT's.  I'm guessing it was $5k-$10K on average.

My buddy got the first Orange 08 SRT8 in Fargo. He paid 10K over the sticker which was around 43K. At that time there were so many people waiting in line it was a take or we call the next person on the list. They are still flying off the Dodge lot. Last Sat we drove by and there was at least 10 Challeys there. Yesterday I went by and most of them are gone. I'll bet by this weekend they will have another group there again.

I think this should read: "It never ceases to amaze me at the stupidity of BUYERS..."   :clueless:

If people refused to pay over MSRP (I would never do it) then there wouldn't be any such thing as a "market adjustment". Last thing I heard, dealers were discounting these cars. But there are plenty of stupid people out there unwilling to do their homework to find the best price and who just look at how big the monthly payment will be. Just bend over, grab your ankles and let the salesman have their way!
