What did YOU buy at Carlisle?
« on: April 26, 2009 - 01:37:38 AM »
Went to Carlisle yesterday with my oldest son.....had never been there before and didnt know what to expect.

Very glad I went!    We got there at around 10am and we walked non-stop until almost 5.

I have never seen so many used parts for sale in my life!

That said, I think this will probably be the last spring Carlisle I go to.

I was disappointed in how few Mopar parts we could find...vendor after vendor selling Camaro and Chevelle parts.....many Mustang vendors......very very few Mopar.

I did find a few vendors though....but even then Ididnt come across them until the last hour or two of the day.

Picked up a lower grill repro for $80, a couple of new black repro armrest pads for $60, ended up getting the Lokar throttle and kickdown cables and brackets/springs for $120.....got a tin Mopar sign and a couple small odds and ends....

We walked for almost 7 hours straight and saw about 95% of the parts vendors....walked quickly through the car show part and saw just 2 or 3 Mopars....one guy had a 73 Barracuda that we stopped and ogled for awhile...he was selling for $21,000 and said he had few bites....

The other thing was that it didnt seem like there were that many good deals there....some of the stuff for sale I could get cheaper online, even with shipping.....The lokar stuff I got I at least saved shipping on.....ofcourse now I am wondering if I should have waited and gotten the other guy's adjustable kit...but the lokar looks nicer....

I knew that Mopar stuff would probably be tough to find.....the main reason I went was to meet the guy who sold me my car a month ago to get the tranny he owned me  (got it!!!!)

SO overall a nice day and not sorry I went....but that said, I think the Mopar Nationals will be a much more fruitful day spent.....I still have a long list of stuff I need.  LOL

Your experience is pretty much par for the course if you are a Mopar enthusiast. Spring, SUmmer Fall Carlisle are pretty much Ford and Chevy parts and cars. The only one that I think is worth going to to look for parts is the Chrysler Carlisle. But since it was your first time you at least got your feet wet and I am sured enjoyed the day with your son! Mopar Nationals in Columbus I have been out there the last 3 or 4 years and it is a great time !!!!!!

Must of the "general" Carlisle shows attract the local people as far as participants go.  I don't think you get quite as many "out of towners" as you do for the specific shows like Mopar, Corvette, Mustang, etc...  That being said, there is a drastic shortage of Mopars in central Pennsylvania.  In fact, in Harrisburg where I live, I've only seen ONE bright yellow Challenger besides my Cuda.  In fact, my 'Cuda was the first I had ever seen in PA since moving there in 2002.
