Terry, couple questions for ya...hope you dont mind...
Looking at the rebuilt converter:
--seems to have some fluid in it..not a lot, just some. Do they test these when they are rebuilt I guess? I would assume so....and that would explain the residual fluid...
-- there is no stamped circle or anything...some numbers, yes....but no circle......there IS a drain plug though......how do I line this up? The tranny guy who did the work said use the plug.

-- when sliding it into the transmission, I can get it to drop two "levels"...seems to line up right with the starter.....there is some playthough as Iwiggle it side to side (rocking motion)......took the converter back out and looked inside....stuck my fingers down into the sleeve the tranny shafts go into and there is lots of play there....is that normal? When I rock the converter back and forth when out of the tranny I can hear it moving.....Please tell me that is normal...?!?!?
-- The trans guy said he wasn't sure which converter I needed as the catalog listed two for 72-76 318...one with thin pads and one with thick pads...he gave me the thick pad.....he aid that when I install, I should have to pull the converter up to the flexplate about 1/8"....he said that if it is really in there tight against the flex plate that I need the thin pad unit. Thoughts?
My paint job didnt turn out bad, and it gave me some quality time with the tranny...LOL
