    My trans shop used a compression fitting on one line too (but the place is run by the former owners brother).

    Just make sure they are tight...mine weren't and drip...

    Heck in my youth I used a compression fitting on a rear brake line...work great but highly illegal, lol.

    All that work  :working:  paid off!  I had a grin ear to ear, as did my kids and wife!  :bigsmile:

    I decided to forego the gauges for now and take a chance........

    Runs great and sound good...no knocks or anything that I could hear above the noise at least.  LOL

    Lots of work yet to do, but we ran her and had her out of the garage for the first time since she was flat-bedded home.

    No leaks, no major issues and lots of noise!! (No exhaust after the stock manifolds..LOL)

    What I think is the oil light never went out though......could be a bad sending unit I guess....I was told the engine ran great in the car when it was brought to the shop to have it pulled, so no reason to suspect any issues there besides a sending unit or wiring issue....

    Man, that felt GREAT hearing her run for the first time!

    She backed out of the garage and pulled back in just fine...that will be the extent of my trammy tests until I can get an exhaust on her, as well as plates, insurance and gauges.

    WOW! What a rush!

    I do have a concern about that deep tranny oil pan I got from summit....it hangs REALY low......hopefully not too low!  :eek2: :dunno:

    Yeah I stay away from deep oil pans since I tend to jump railroad tracks at speed, lol.

    Don't worry about the deep pan. I used one on mine also and it doesn't quite hang down as low as the headers and I've never had a problem with them scraping.

    You have one major problem that I see though. Once the new wears off the car you'll be having to decide if it's the car or that motorcyle on nice days. Go ahead, ask me how I know! :banghead:

    Well, luckily I rdie to work every day, rain shine or snow.....LOL  So I get my riding fix during the week.

    I am so close to having this on the road it hurts... :bigsmile:

    Still need a lot of things finished though.....but will get there.

    I hooked up my summit gauges yesterday and today (little at a time) and just need the new oil sending unti so I can test......

    I really need to decide on what I want to do with the exhaust....

    I was thinking I want headers but not sure....I have j heads on the car right now as I have mentioned in another thread....plus still deciding about mandrel bent (kits) or taking it to a shop to be custom bent (non-mandrel).......

    Oh, decisions decisions...LOL

    Aside from that, I am waiting on the insurance folks to get back to me and then I have to ao for antique plates....so, at least a couple more weeks..... :'(

    A quick look at a mandrel bent exhaust like TTI makes compared to the typical kinked up junk bent at the corner shop should make that decision easy.  :dunno:

    Dont get me wrong...I have used mandrel bent stuff before.....almost 15 years ago when it became the rage.....bought a complete setup for my Dakota.....I know its prettier.

    But truth is, I dont know if it really makes a difference in power, etc....power that I will feel in my application, on the street.......

    I am almost sold on buying headers at this stage and just buying a kit and trying it myself......

    ......but just "almost"...LOL

    I do custom bending at my shop,it is fine for what you are doing and cheaper.

    I assume you mean the "regular" bending.

    There was a shop around here a few years back that did mandrel bending and it was the same cost as regular, but they are long gone.

    "fine for what I am doing" ....yeah, I know.   But I figure "spend your money once"......I have no exhaust right now, so I have lots of options (Maybe thats the problem..LOL)....

    The cost of having the guy up the street doing it is under $500, with x pipe, front to back.....that includes header pipes to the stock manifolds...slightly cheaper if I have headers installed when I take it there.

    The cost of a mandrel-bent kit is $450-$600, for what I am looking at.....except then I HAVE to buy headers....

    I have always wanted a car with headers....LOL   :bigsmile:...but is it the right choice for this car?

    So far , a couple folks have said that due to the J heads I shouldnt go headers......and a couple have said it wont matter at all....

    So.........thats where I am........... :clueless:
