Newb from MLT WA.
« on: April 27, 2009 - 12:59:06 AM »
Howdy, I thought I would introduce myself here and then go to the tech page for questions
Here are a few pics of my Cuda and Challenger
The Challenger I have had since 91, used to be my daily driver till 97 or so, 318 bored 60 over (runs a little hot if I remember right) power steering, manual brakes. Just recently pulled it outtta the weeds, tore the interior out repainted the floors, which are completly solid, pulled the gas tank cause it has about twenty little tiny rust holes in it, re-painted the rusty trunk for good meausure and pressure washed the outside. It is currently awaiting the new tank, carburator, carpet, seat covers, and new paint on the door panels and trim. And Presto I will have a clean low budget CHL2T to let my daughter drive.

The Cuda, I bought in 98, 340 (long gone, now has 440 TNT from 66 new yorker), pistol grip, power brakes, manual steering. Sat in the weeds from then till this spring, yanked it out, pulled (good) carpet, painted floors (solid, minor rust under drivers foot) painted trunk, yanked gas tank, cleaned ,re-installed, installed carpet and seats, timed it, cleaned plugs, new (old) drivers side valve cover and gasket, drained/ bled brakes, fixed exhaust collector leak, re hung exhaust at the rear, rebuilt steering column using new (old) bearings, adjusted front end, fixed various wiring issues, pressure washed,  buffed out most of the oxidation and finally.....put in gas (was using remote tank till then) and fired it up, runs and drives great, Just has a few clutch/ shifter/ throwout bearing issues to be discussed later.

Anyway, I know I like a long intro and I hope you all do to
Hopefully I re-sized the pics right and that they come through, I will post more when I take them, and of the other mopars of my mini collection ;-)

Forgot to add colors/ options of cars
Cuda-  B5 Blue, black guts, painted once in what appears to be tor-red, all the cuda stuff, tips, cutouts, dual chrome mirrors, front and rear swaybar, front discs, non rallye dash (damn!) rocker and belt molding (top of doors), missing passenger side, anybody have one?
Challenger- GY (I think) gold metallic paint, now some sort of blue, kinda B5ish, white guts and vinyl top (long gone, thank goodness I ripped it off before storing in the weeds for a decade) slap stick, map light, AC, regular JH sort of stuff nothing special

The Cuda and Challenger I plan on driving/ letting my wife/ daughter drive and NOT doing any other restoration work on. I aint got no dough for that sorta crazy stuff

And no I am not one of those "I am going to restore it someday" guys, my "someday" is now and they all will be running and driving this summer*

"They", being the 66 Charger, the Cuda, the Challenger and the 69 Polara convertible

*Disclaimer.  Except for the 69 charger which is actually geting "restored" for lack of a better word

Here is a pic of the Polara and Charger with the Cuda tucked tween

I just got sick of looking at them and decided that it is time to get on em.
The running gag for the last ten years or so was every time a band member needed to take a leak they would always say "time to go piss on a mopar" and if you saw my backyard when I had em all back there you would have seen that they were hard to miss when pissing. LOL

Hey we are neighbors.  I live in Brier.  I was going to ask if you were interested in a 1970 dodge challenger front end but it sounds like you don't want to over restore the car.  I'm moving a alterkation front end on my car and was originally going with the original K-member.  I have the just supension peices, new strut bars, 11.75 police pin style disc brakes, new calipers and all the other junk.  The K-member has be powder coated and comes with front sway bars.  I'm trying to decide on whether to keep them or sell them.   Part of me is saying just keep the whole thing under my work bench until I get another challenger.

Hopefully I'll have my challenger running this summer.  It has been three years since I've been able to drive it and five since I drove it alot.  Neighbor ran into the back of the car four years ago so it took about a year to get the body work done.  Then the transmission died.  Turned out my crate engine killed the transmission with a sloppy crank.  Who would have thought?  Any way nice to have you join us.  There are alot of very knowledible people here.

Sorry, not interested in any parts, I already have a shed full of Chl2t and Cha2t parts with some polara thrown in there, but thanks for the offer.

That sucks that yer car got smashed and then tranny trashed, getting smashed into, has always been a BIG worry with the mopars, cept the polara, that thing is a tank and would prolly hurt the other car worse :smilielol:

And to CudaDave, the Cuda is a 73

Welcome to the site!  It's good to see you're getting your old MoPars back into street-use and that you're going to be able to enjoy them as drivers for your entire family. :2thumbs:   I went a little overboard with my Chally, so it's currently waiting for me to have the time & money (college drains that over 5 years + studying abroad in Europe) to get back to work on it.
