    Hey guys, as title says I come from Slovenia, Europe and looking forward to do my first American muscle project. I dont know much about these cars, but im comfortable with engeeniring in general.
    So, for my project i choose 71 'cuda  :dunno:
    Im still in studdy/searching for info stage. I would like to start with cuda in good shape (not much parts missing), get rebuilt 426 Hemi and other stuff needed and menwhile renew the body, interior ....
    Im looking to get some help with info how to prepare my budget. Was thinking about to start with about 10000€ ($13000) for cuda and then another 25000€ ($35000) for engine, tranny, ... over the year or two.
    Or there i better start with cuda in worse shape (because i can do all the body work and painting myself)
    Any tips and suggestions are welcome ;)

    Welcome to the site.   :wave:   :wave:   :wave:  I think you can probably get your engine and trans for less and use the left over money towards the car.  1971 cuda's are very popular and may be difficult to find compared to the other years.  Good luck with your search and enjoy the site!   :bigsmile:

    How come that 71 cudas are so popular, therefore most expensive, am i missing something ? What are difrences between 71s and 72s other than taillights ?
    Oh yeah, is there any web site with all info about cudas, also looking for workshop/service manuals ...

    '71s have been favourite for a long time.  The '71s are the only year with quad headlights (like the challenger) and the genuine '71 'cudas have front fender gills in chrome, which is a fantastic bit of styling.  Also they have a mental front grille arrangement.  I guess they follow a fish theme much more than the other years.

    Personally I like the '72 ----> tail lights, but otherwise the '71s do look nicer.

    I like the 1970 best,  dont care for the quad head lights on the 71 and the smaller tail lights than the 70's.  the 72 are not too bad though with the round tail lights.

    Welcome!  You will be able to find or solicite everything you will need right here. Best of luck finding a 71 project.  It is a good buyers market right now so perhaps it won't take you long to get started.  I like all the Cudas but like so many others, I find the 71 grill with the quad headlights to be my favorite.

    I too love 71, I did buy mine last september off ebay and I am pretty satisfied of what I found.

    but be aware that at the same price, you may find a good project and a rusted bucket. I spent $12K for mine with a spare 07 hemi, 4 spd transmission and dana rear. it was dressed like a 70 so I had to buy 71 grille and taillights. Since then, I have spent another $5K in parts and $4K to ship it from texas to my door here in France.

    my best advice, spend $25-30K in a nice driving cuda or gran coupe, enjoy driving around Slovenia and biuld an engine while you are enjoying ( that is my best advice from a restorer, but i always buy new non running projects .....)
