This is the area I was talking about.  Your car looks really good in that area.  Mine doesn't looks so good.  I have seen other cars were the paint looks the way mine does.  I'm hoping that it won't be noticable when the wiper motor and the rest of the parts are installed.

Rudy,
Great story on your car! Too bad you didn't get the gun too!

Budar, That crease is in every cowl stamping. The metal had to go somewhere.  Funny thing is that I fixed that crease in the first cowl that I repaired years ago.

I was just going back through this thread and saw something that is missing on the heater box.  I just thought you might want to know before you get too much other stuff in the way.

On the left end of the box(near the trans tunnel) there is a cardboard panel that is missing in the pics.  It clips on from the back side and forms the other half of the floor vent ductwork.  Detroit Muscle Technologies sells a new cardboard piece for $10.

I found that piece of cardboard! Good eye there Burdar! I did have it.
Here's some pics of my newly restored alternator. I had it done by Dixie Restorations. Jim Ridge gives excellent customer service and I highly recommend him for this. He will be doing the starter soon too. Contact him at Dixierestorationparts.com  for an estimate.

Hi AARudy,
Amazing restore... great job. It's going to look amazing.
BTW, what do you call that contraption that you use to spin the car when doing the paint work? Can I buy it somewhere or can I build it myself?

Thanks! Thats a rotisserie....   You can buy them, and some people do build them. I believe they run around $1200-1800?

Hi Rudy,

Wow, I just finished going through your thread and looking at the fantastic info and pictures. Your AAR and attention to detail is truely amaziing. I regretfully sold my B5 blue AAR back in 1993 to make room for another car at the time. It haunted me all these years as I went through the process of locating a B5 car and having it restored. I sold it to a friend with the condition that if he ever wanted to sell it I would get first crack at buying it back. Well, he called me last week and offered it to me first.

I still have no room for it but I could not pass up the opportunity to bring it back home. I know he took care of it and only showed and drove it locally in his area.

I came upon your thread as I am looking for information on the Organosol as in the recent pictures he sent me it reminded of the issue's I had with the finish on this paint.
It is to textured and gritty for my liking and I plan on having it repainted once I get it back. I am taking that you the Gibson is a lacquer. If so then it would not be legal to use here in California. I had the hood painted twice with the same results in the past.

I use to go to Spring Fling out here in Los Angeles when I had the car and I hope to do so again next year.

I look foward to your posts.

Thanks

Rene'

Rene' Thanks for the kind words on the resto, I actually have that picture of your car I think in my AAR file! Let me know, I come out to LA often and would like to attend the Spring Fling.

Back tail panel trim is on, stripes, hood, uhhh, trunk weatherstrip (see the trunk sticking up) - I also raised up the front end, what a difference that made!
