Grimmey's Mistress
« on: April 30, 2009 - 12:25:00 AM »
Well I finally started on her. She is a 71 383 Tor-Red Cuda.  I had her bead blasted and a custom cage installed. Right now I am working on the subframe connectors while scrapping off the rest of the under coating. here is the pics I took today.

parts I have so far are alterkation front air bar four link rear, xv chassis stiffening.

Nice!  Looks like a great start.  The cage looks like some nice work.  What size tires are you trying to fit?

I had the cage made at a local shop, some real good guys there who do alot of nice cars.  the tire in the pic is a 335/30/18. I am suprised it actually fits all the way up into the wheel well to the point where the tire bead is flush with the wheel lip.

the car came from new mexico and the body is super rust. free. everything unbolted easy. there was some accident damage on the pass front  so i have a new inner and will soon order a new raditor support. It feels good just being able to work on her again after years of neglect.

rear torque boxes and replacing the pass rear lower quarter are next on the list.

here is a quick pic of stitch welding the body panels. I was really surprised at how effective it was is stiffening up things.

I have been having a rough time posting pics on here so sorry for the limited update pics. I am planning on having her go to my Painter/bodyman/hero after the holidays. I picked up an AAR hood from AAR fiberglass a couple months plus the trans am front spoiler(which blows btw) hopefully i can get these things worked out.

you sir have the greatest avatar ever. I also added some additional bracing, basically like extending the sub frame connectors through the torsion bar mounts and into the front frame rails. I also added the xv stiffening kit too

this is some of the additional bracing that was added. hopefully it is not in the way of anything. This was before being welded into place. I used the same tubes that were used in the subframe connectors.

hopefully all of the above. I do want to go for more of a trans am style, as I always dug those, The cage was done at a local shop, and it was very well done.
