Chrysler is broke and refuses to deal on the New Challengers

Except for the interior which is Charger.

I'm not a Camaro fan (there are soooooooooo many of them!), but I think the new one will kick Ma's butt in sales and performance. The new Camaro doesn't look like a bloated goat, either.

O.K., now that I shot my big mouth off, I searched for some more Camaro pics. I now agree that it's also a bit on the big & bloated side AND....

It looks like a cross between a 72 Challenger (taillights) and the new Challenger and Charger. Although I dig the Joker grille, I don't like the look of the rear or profile much.

The convertible is pretty decent looking and Mopar decided NOT to offer one for us.   

I officially recind my "new Camaro is better than new Challenger" implications. 


Does anybody else think the Camaro looks a little like the Charger concept from about ten years ago?

GM has suspended the plans for the Camaro vert indefinitely, also.

Here are the dimensions of the challenger and camaro. As you can see the Camaro is 10 inches shorter in length, 4 inches shorter in height and 4 inches wider in width. In person the Camaro has a great stance and does not look bloated, especially compared to the Challenger. I will say that it does have a fair amount smaller interior and the trunk is tiny, but it is by no means a 4 door converted to a 2 door.

length: 197.7 in.
height: 57.1 in.
width: 75.7 in.
wheel base: 116.0 in.

Camaro
length: 186.2 in.
height: 53.0 in.
width: 79.6 in.
wheel base: 110.5 in.

Sorry but what's your point?  We have known since day 1 the Challenger is bigger than the Camaro, just like it was with the originals.  That;s why the Mustang and Camaro were considered as Pony cars, because they were smaller.  If you like the Camaro better, then go ahead and get one.  I wouldn't have any hard feelings.  I'm still holding out for when I can afford my new Challenger.

Yes the 1st generation challengers were longer and wider than the 1st generation camaros, but they were the same height. My point is GM did a better job at maintaining the body proportions in their new camaro then Chrysler did. Did Chrysler do a better job at the grille and taillights, yes they did. But when it comes to fuel economy and performance the camaro wins again. I probably won't buy either car, because I really don't need or want a car payment right now, but if I were in the market the I would actually probably go with an SRT 8 super bee charger because it has more room than the challenger, same performance and personally I like the agressive looks of the new charger better, but that's just me.

Wow, unless I was in the market for a sedan I would never choose a Charger over the Challenger. I personally would get an SRT Jeep before the Charger. Guess we all have our preferences.

I like the Jeep and have driven both, I prefer the car being low to the ground and don't want the 3.73 axle ratio that is in the jeep.

I still think Camaro looks like a better deal here.  Until Chrysler wakes up, they can keep their over priced 4x4 looking Challengers.

Just giving my personal opinion. It was stated by 72hemi that he would rather have a SRT-8 Charger than a SRT-8 Challenger and it blew my mind. I stated that as far as 4 door SRT's go I would rather have a Jeep than a Charger. The Jeep is a bad motor scooter. With that all wheel drive I bet its second only to the Viper in acceleration in the Chrysler world.

Truth is dealers are Private owned they make thier own rules and Chrysler as no control over a dealer same as Chevy so why blame Corp. for your dealer don't like find another.
 I have mine and never considered a Camaro

The new camaro is f*ckin ugly.  They took an old style tried to retro it, and FAILED.   Challenger has it HANDS DOWN on the retro car. ....and I like the mustnag.. But even Ferd tried to incorporate too many years of mustnag into one production car.

I totally agree!!!!  I don't see the complaint about the interior either. When I'm in mine I can see a lot on the old style just updated to look retro. The only thing I think they could of done is make the console more retro. But I understand they are fighting for their life and probably didn't have the cash to do more refinements. At least they gave us the BEST retro muscle car of the 3. It may not be the fastest bet it surely is the BEST!!!!  Just remember when you guys go and buy your Camaros that there will always be someone faster. It's always been that way and always will be!

The dealer you were at must really not like staying in business, we got our R/T for 5.5k off sticker.

It's all a matter of the surrounding customers.  You probably have enough rich/lazy folks in the area that they are not going to take the time to shop around.  Like someone said on another thread, he saw a couple walk in, take a test drive, and drive it home, all within a short time, so they probably didn;t do any price checking or negotiating.  If you shop around it's obvious that you can find a better deal, you just have to be willing to travel some distance.  Have you tried any other dealerships?  The bottom line, though, is don't put this on Chrysler.  Once the car leaves the plant, they have little to no control over pricing.
