Although sticker price will be irrelevant when the car debuts (and for some time to come) are you saying the base Camaro will cost $12,000 and the R/T equivalent will be $22,000?  Otherwise I don't see where your "10 grand less" figure comes from.

Mike
well if you want the base car that is your choice, but a 6.2 litre,ss independent rear, brembo brakes,20 inch wheels retail is 31 k,the 6.1 chally is 42 k that is 10 grand by my math, and im not a chevy guy i only mentioned it because they are a competitor selling a modern muscle car for less , that should bring down the price a little :2cents:

The performance of the SS Camaro rivals that of the SRT 8 not the R/T. The Camaro 6 cylinder is throwing down 300 hp, gets 30 mpg and eats GT Mustangs for lunch. So basically with Chevrolet you get the comparable of SRT performance for the price of an R/T. I am a huge Mopar nut, have been since before I got my first Challenger almost 12 years ago and will always be a Mopar guy, but I can admit when the competition makes a better car. In this case Chevrolet has built a better car.

I'm with you.   :grinyes:  We will see about quality down the road, but yep, the Camaro is growing on me.

It depends on what you want - if you want a small 'toy' car like a Camaro or Mustang then get it.  If you want a regular size car go with the Dodge.  Kinda like in the 70's the Camaro/Mustang were A-body size.

Agreed.

The new Chally has much more interior room than the new Mustang I can tell you. The new Mustang handles like nothing I have ever owned though.

I think it is partly because the Challenger is one of the few cars that they are moving. Maybe they will have a huge sale when they reopen operations in a couple of months.

My local dealership has had an orange R/T for months now. It has a big red tag hanging from the rearview mirror... "$1000 OFF". whoop-dee-freakin-doo.

I'm not a Camaro fan (there are soooooooooo many of them!), but I think the new one will kick Ma's butt in sales and performance. The new Camaro doesn't look like a bloated goat, either.
My name is Steve and I'm addicted to Challengers...

Not to mention the Camaro has retro inspired interior, where the Challenger has Charger interior.

I have not seen the comparison photos but I heard that the camaro was big too.  :dunno:  I agree they are offering them with better power to weight ratios and better price points. The first can be fixed easily enough by Chrysler by adopting the SRT engine for the R/T and offering a much more powerful engine for the SRT. The price point can be reduced but I dont see where Chrysler can match GM because they simply will not move as many models as GM can.

I'm sorry you can make any car a performance car but this:

Is ugly looks like a cadillac CTS with some flared fenders compared to this

this is truly a piece of art, in my opinion

They are already out. I drove by a local chevy dealership today and they had a yellow one on the lot. I'm gunna go check it out tomorrow.

Everyone has their own opinion. To me the new Challenger looks like a bloated version of its previous self with no effort placed on the interior (straight ripoff of the Charger), and the Camaro looks great. So to each their own.

Camaro is bloated too, just not as much as the Challenger.  GM has toyed with the photos that show both old and new in the same shot, making them look similar in size.  I do agree that GM did a better job with the interior, but to me the Challenger looks far better from the outside, and much much more truer to the original design.  By the way, that rear quarter shot of the Camaro is the worst possible view.  the Challenger looks great from 360 deg, whereas the Camaro only looks good from any view that does not show the rear.

When Motortrend did the original comparison on their website back in '06 or '07 (Challenger won by a landslide btw) I posted a couple of pics. I think they have softened the grille but I still feel the same way.

The new camaro is f*ckin ugly.  They took an old style tried to retro it, and FAILED.   Challenger has it HANDS DOWN on the retro car. ....and I like the mustnag.. But even Ferd tried to incorporate too many years of mustnag into one production car.

Challenger....is .... A .....Challenger!!
