Okay guys and gals. I am new to this forum as I am a die hard Mustang fanatic --- now hold on before you dismiss what I have to say. The Challenger has accomplished what other cars, including fords have been unable to do. These new challengers look so close to the originals it is remarkable. I had a Challenger on order but was cancelled due to the plants going idle. I searched and finally found a dealer which had some challengers 70 miles away. We drove down and after seeing the hemi orange R/T I saw a silver SRT8 close by. We talked about it and decided to buy both. I could have just as easily purchased a 2010 Mustang GT but since we already have a 2010 v6 and Ford is not as bad off financially as Chysler we decided to do our part to help keep an AMERICAN company in business. In fact, we traded in a 2008 mustang to finance one of the Challengers and an Edge to finance the other. Listen, Chrysler needs to sell cars for a profit to stay in business. It didn't even cross our minds to take advantage of the situation and lowball the dealer on the price.
Come on, how is Chrysler or any other american company going to survive if we are looking for ways low ball the products? Now that being said, any dealer trying to jack up the price in light of the situation should be drawn and quartered. Dodge has a real winner with the Challenger and too bad it came into play so late. I have my doubts as to whether this vehicle will be produced when the plants ramp up again, especially if the Gov't has anything to say about it. So if you want a Challenger, find one and be proud to do your part in keeping an American car company in business. BTW, we are in debt for 5 years on these cars but I feel we made a good decision.
Long Live the American Muscle car!
P.S. I saw a new Camaro last night. IMO a very poor example of engineering. What were they thinking?! It's cramped, far too "chisled", interior is cheap and only hints to it's rich history. Again this is only an opinion from a Ford guy who has owned the occassional Mopar.
