super vague 4 speed man question

Hi all,

I know this is going to require a lot more of looking into but....

I obviously have a standard A833 4 speed, and lately has been giving me a lot of trouble getting into 1st gear.
Shifts into the other gears nicely when past 1st.
Could I be having a problem with the linkage rods themselves??
I was hoping that maybe it could be addressed or even just begin looking at possibilities before dropping the trans for any reason.

I know that with trannys it's hard to say with any 1 problem that it has any 1 magic fix.
I don't have a lot of experience with these, so if anyone could even make a suggestion that would be appreciated too!

It could also be the nut that holds the 1-2 shift lever on the trans came loose.  Another comon problem is the shifter mounting plate itself beign loose.  I'll bet it's shifter/linkage, not internal tranny.

I have not tried to adjust the linkage, honestly, I have not had to before and may not know how exactly.

Also, I was hoping to try some "outer" items, as this has not been such a problem before.

I will be getting her up and check these things, as well as get someone to run her through the gears to see what I can see.

Lubrication makes a big difference as well

Is it hard to get into Reverse too?  I'm guessing that you clutch linkage is a little loose and you aren't releasing all the way.
