Engine advise needed
« on: May 01, 2009 - 11:51:03 PM »
Well, I have decided to stick with the small block and have two options, stroke the orginal 318  or build up a 340.  How big can you stroke a 318 to? We are going to use aftermarket heads and a six pack. What cam and heads do you suggest we use for either option?
Any advise would be appreciated.
Cheers
Toni

well if you are going to stroke a 318 why not stroke the 360 up to 412 ci , you can go bigger but you need an aftermarket block to do it so it would depend on your budget
I would use ported 308 casting producion heads or step up to the W2 Mopar heads but W2 has no intake for the 6 pack , IMO the eddy heads are not better than the Production 308 castings & I do not know of another good small block head . The W2 will make far more power than the Eddys or any production head but they need special headers inatke , rockers & pushrods etc to work

I agree, 360 blocks are quite cheap.

I have taken your guys advise and purchased a 79 360, does anyone know of a good engine builder in the Portland area. Have decided to get this done over there and then ship back to Aus when completed. Engine building in Perth is very expensive.
