This country hasn't been through anything like this since the depression. Wild times that's for sure :(

I keep thinking we are going to pull out of it this year, but I'm just not sure of much these days. :dunno:
Don't look back, I might be gaining on you.

My cousin sent this to me and somehow it fits very well in this tread.

John Smith started the day early

having set his
 alarm clock
(MADE IN JAPAN ) for 6am.

While his coffee pot
(MADE IN CHINA )

was perking, he shaved with his
electric razor
 (MADE IN HONG KONG ).

He put on a
dress shirt,
(MADE IN SRI LANKA ),

designer jeans
(MADE IN SINGAPORE )

and
tennis shoes
(MADE IN KOREA ).

After cooking his breakfast in his new
electric skillet
(MADE IN INDIA )

he sat down with his  calculator
(MADE IN MEXICO )
to see how much he could spend today.

After setting his
watch
(MADE IN TAIWAN )

to RADIO time
(MADE IN INDIA ),

he got in his
CAR,
(MADE IN GERMANY )

and filled it with
GAS
(from Saudi Arabia )

and continued his search
for a good paying
AMERICAN JOB.

At the end of yet another
discouraging and fruitless day
checking on his
COMPUTER
(Made In Malaysia ),

John decided to relax for a while.
He put on his
SANDALS,
(MADE IN BRAZIL )

poured himself a glass of
WINE
(MADE IN AUSTRALIA)

and turned on his
 TV
(MADE IN INDONESIA ),

and wondered why he can't find
a good paying job
in AMERICA .

NOW
HE'S HOPING HE CAN GET HELP FROM
THE PRESIDENT
(MADE IN KENYA )!!
...WHAT A JOKE!!!

Yea, I buy only American grown bananas and American coffee. I use American sugar in my coffee, too.

Wait, I've seen the light! Let's ban all imports!  I hate imports so much I think I'll take a cutting torch to my Glocks, Beretta, and Browning Hi-Power. I'll junk my Honda dirt bikes and replace them with American-made ones!

Man, some people are little slow :wow: when it comes to understanding why so many Americans are frustrated with the loss of manufacturing based jobs in America.

It is very obvious (To most anyway) that America is quickly becoming the follower when it comes to developing new manufacturing technology rather than being the inventor/creator/leader of manufacturing technology as we once were.

We are slowly but surely becoming more and more dependent upon foreign owned businesses and their countries for our own survival.  Just take a look at how much money we have borrowed from China and other countries during this latest recession/depression.  We cant even stand on our on feet anymore!!!

I am ok with global trading when all things between these countries are equal.  What I have a problem with is when the reasons we are losing manufacturing jobs is do to:
1.  Our own government relaxing trade barriers to the point that we as Americans cannot compete with countries who pay 0.50cent on the hour.
2.  Corporate America being allowed to take advantage of Americans by moving their operations to countries that only pay 0.50cent on the hour.

In the end, it means we as Americans will continue to be forced to lower our standard of living (at least for some Americans) in order for other countries to catch up with us.  Thus you will continue to see the elimination of the middle class!!!

I might catch some flack for this but o well, In my opinion vipers should have been long gone like the prowler. It should have been a limited for so many years and that is it. It defenitley hasn't help the value on the older model years in appreciated values.

The reason they lasted so long is because people were still buying them.  If they were not selling, then they would have been axed long ago.  I like the fact that the early models have not jumped in value, because it still makes them available to most of us common folk.

Thru July 2008, Chrysler had sold less than 700 Vipers for the year. I knew a guy who did nothing but work on Vipers-nothing else. He said they were of poor quality. Poor quality, high priced, low sales volume. Tell me again why Chrysler should keep Viper?

That would be like you continuing to buy pizza from from your local pizza shop even though you didn't like the taste, thought it was overpriced, and it had bugs in the dough.

Hang on a second - people LOVE the taste...  The topppings just tend to slide off the sauce every once in a while.

It looks like I'll have to hurry up and plan my road-trip to Conner Avenue in my GTS.  I missed the chance to tour the facility in college and really want to see it before it's gone forever.

I'll add to that our govenment that lets it happen.

I lost one of the best jobs I've had because of this. My division could compete in cost, we were better in quality, and we were faster in turn around time. We lost because a foreign country granted reduced income taxes on all product built out of their plant.

What is Obama doing to correct these types of situations? Nothing that I've seen.
