Curious about a Viper

There's an early Viper for sale close to me here inCanada, not knowing much about them this is the vin 1B3CR65EXSV201132, it's got 20k + on it, the hood has stress cracking above the motor, and the areas above each front wheel, are they glass hoods, would this be a desireable car at the right price. It's dark green, gold colored interior, black top.....thx

Do you have pictures or a link to the sale?  What year is it?  That's a color combination I'm not familiar with, which could mean it's been modified (which is somewhat common on these cars.)

The Hood is a MAJOR area of concern with these cars.  Primarily because they are VERY EXPENSIVE to replace - over $6,000 dollars just for the PART.  They are fiberglass, and thus cannot be repaired beyond minor chips or repainting.  The "stress cracking" doesn't sound right to me - these hoods don't stress crack.  The rear of the hood (the top when opened) is meant to slide in tracks and flex with the body.  The hinge has multiple flex points and shouldn't impose any stress on the hood itself.  I wonder if it was damaged due to misuse (you can damage the hood if you don't follow the factory "closure" procedure) and the owner decided not to get it fixed.

The guys over at forums.viperclub.org can be very helpful for information regarding value and giving other technical information.  Do note that early Vipers - as in early to mid 90's - are only fetching $20,000 to $25,000 dollars for that kind of mileage in this brutal market.

Stress cracks in the early Gen 1 vipers is very normal.  Dark Green in color, I'm guessing it to be a 1995.  There are some things you should know and having a viper guy (tech) take a look could save you a ton of headache and money.  ViperMan is right, viperclub.org is a great place to look for info.  Call me if you need some detailed information.
